December 21, 20169 yr The link ... where is it going to? Vaughan, the link has been corrected in my earlier post. It points to a discussion here in AVSIM began earlier today: http://www.avsim.com/topic/500111-p3d-update-broke-working-sli/
December 21, 20169 yr Vaughan, the link has been corrected in my earlier post. Ok, that will work. Best Regards, Vaughan Martell PP-ASEL KDTW
December 21, 20169 yr So there seem to be reasons not to install this hot fix (SLI broken) but I can not see any compelling reason to rush into it (for instance; no one has confidently said VAS recover is better with it). I've downloaded the installers and moved the to latest MS .NET 4.6.2 in anticipation of going ahead, but now I'm wondering if there's any good reason to install it other than 'staying current'? December 21, 20169 yr Author FSLSpotLights has now been Updated Version 1.0 - Build 27 P3D v3.4.18.19475 compatibility Version is 1.0.0.27
December 22, 20169 yr uninstalled the academic client. When I check for the new hotfix download it does not show up (it was there yesterday) so now I have no P3D. I restored computer to fix what I did, now I can't start P3D because i get an shaders and radar message on startup. Would appreciate some help thanks. The file is shader file radargauge.hlsl fixed: used wrong liscencse
December 22, 20169 yr Dont worry, go to your downloads @ LM. You will find 2 download options 1. the 10 GB zip file and 2. below the download for individual components to download. Get the the client install it after you have uninstalled the old client. Remember to activate P3D after installation. Greetz MJ My youtube blog________________________Prepar3D v2.5/v3
December 22, 20169 yr Like I suggested before, I highly recommend this update, a few visual improvements/fixes are: 1. More variants in clouds so much less repetition, AS16 simply looks stunning 2. Terrain shadows no longer operate on terrain under water so we no longer see those dark shadow bands out in the water 3. Performance does seem slightly improved (could be in part to #2 above) 4. VAS seems unchanged, can still be very high in certain locations and add-on combinations 5. Key fixes that other 3rd party vendors were asking for including Pete's FSUIPC (BTW, Pete is always on vacation, he's retired) Now I'm just patiently waiting for PILOT's FS Global Ultimate 2016 to see if they reduce VAS usage associated to "some" of their work and do indeed sharpen distance detail and improve FPS per their claim. Frankly, this IS the best P3D to date and I highly recommend people update. Cheers, Rob.
December 22, 20169 yr 4. VAS seems unchanged, My test so far .. VAS usage is less by 78MB as previous flight .. same route, PMDG737 (P3D HF2). Best Regards, Vaughan Martell PP-ASEL KDTW
December 22, 20169 yr I gained approximately 200-300Mb of extra free VAS moving from 3.4HF1 to 3.4HF2 (NGX/T7, AS2016, REXSC, UTX, GEP3D, PTA, Custom AI, many add-one hubs). I guess that those folks who moved from 3.3.5 or earlier version would not see the difference. It was v3.4 that broke VAS proper management that had been so brilliant since 3.0 original release 9950X3D, X870E ROG CROSSHAIR HERO, Corsair Dominator Titanium 64GB DDR5-6000 PC5-48000, ASUS RTX 5070Ti 16GB, 9100 PRO 4TB Samsung ,990 PRO 4TB Samsung, AX1600i 1600 Watt 80 Plus Titanium ATX, ASUS 360 ARGB EXTREME 360mm Liquid CPU Cooling Kit.
December 22, 20169 yr I also will concur with some of the others that VAS seems to be unchanged. I have been tracking my starting and ending VAS for the past 2 months. I duplicated a flight under the same WX and settings with the new hotfix and VAS usage was identical. I fly the NGX with many of the popular add-ons and usually start with around .9 -1.1 gb VAS remaining and end around .6-.7 gb remaining. I'll need to try some more flights to confirm. That being said, I have not been having any of the OOM issues that many others seem to be having. December 22, 20169 yr For me, landing at EDDF yesterday ended with 816 Mb of free VAS, while before HF2 I barely saw 400Mb. FT EHAM, even with LiteTexPack, upon load, immediately left me with 900 VAS left. Now this number is aroud 1.3 which is quite comfortable. However, I do not use ORBX products intentionally for neither EU nor USA. UTX only. 9950X3D, X870E ROG CROSSHAIR HERO, Corsair Dominator Titanium 64GB DDR5-6000 PC5-48000, ASUS RTX 5070Ti 16GB, 9100 PRO 4TB Samsung ,990 PRO 4TB Samsung, AX1600i 1600 Watt 80 Plus Titanium ATX, ASUS 360 ARGB EXTREME 360mm Liquid CPU Cooling Kit.
