TFDi 717 Releasing on Dec 22nd at 6:00pm Eastern (2300z)

Featured Replies

I did a test flight in the 717 tonight and even with the updates i got stuttery/choppy performance.  I'm sure they'll iron it out, but the irony is that is was perfect before any updates were installed.  Once it's sorted, I'll enjoy flying her.  Great little aircraft.

Same here. Before the last update performance was great. Now it's really choppy.

Quite interesting! After the lastest update, I get smooth performance. At least on par with the NGX

I've seen that Colin suggested turning off 'hardware rendering'.   (I think).  I'll try that tonight and see if it helps.

Just bought this, and for me (FSX:SE) performance is ok - as Anders said, about the same as the NGX.

I also performed a pretty good flight 'staight out the box'.   There were a few bugs but not as many as I was expecting.

Overall it's a nice aircraft and shows lots of potential.  VC is beautiful, as is FDE.  AP seemed to behave as it should.    The interior, ambient sounds are excellent, but I'm not keen on the engine / wind sounds, in flight.

Overall, glad I bought and think it's worth it for the money.  Especially as it's developed further.

I agree with you there.

I also think the engine fan animation needs redoing.  It looks nothing like running fanblades.

It's more just the quality of the wind sound - it's very flat and stable - lacking dynamics a bit.

It's turned off already.

If I enable the hardware rendering my system becomes unusable, everything slows down, including tasks outside the sim.

As I understand this feature, it's dependent on your system and settings. For me, enabling HW rendering works like a charm, but I have processing headroom available in my GPU to handle the additional load and my CPU 'appreciates' the reduced workload. If your GPU is already maxing out (say because of AA settings), then HW rendering will only push it over the top sooner.

Exactly. My system is pre-historic (i7 2600k and GTX580) so I supose you are right.

What I don't get is why before the updates the 717 was running smoothly and now is a stutter fest.

BETA tester here, its not "UnFinished" it is very very flyable. All systems work, MCDU, TERR, WX, EICAS Messages, ATS, AP, its an amazing rendition currently and its not even out yet.

Well, after two weeks after its release, I wonder if people are thinking this is now more "perfect" than before?. Or, maybe some people are still thinking the devs should have left more time to continue improving the aircraft?.

As far I've read on the TFDi forums, the MCDU and AP have still lots of bugs (vertical profile speeds and waypoints not correctly calculated and missing, ILS capturing horribly simulated, etc.), apart of some other systems and parts of the product not yet modeled, whose list was offered since day one, but as of today is still non-existent, unless the list is so extensive that would require weeks to be prepared?.

Just thinking!.

Ed, what is the point of bumping an older post just to attack the product? I don't get why you have such an agenda for this particular dev team. I actually am not happy with the state of it right now, but we also have to keep in mind it released just before the holidays. That's quite a few days of 'off time' for the average person.

The team have been pretty quiet lately, but the few posts I've seen do indicate they are working hard to address the biggest concerns (some users who have crashes/bad FPS.)

Just thinking!.

Just trolling and stirring up bad feelings more likely.

Seriously give it a rest. I have it, I enjoy it, and I look forward to seeing it grow going forward. I'm not alone. If you aren't happy with how this has played out, that's fine, you've made your point, now move on and go fly something else. Sometimes people forget that development teams are made up of human beings.
