Aviation books

Can someone recommend some good general aviation books? I'm not looking at books with lots pictures of planes (although they are nice), I'm more looking at books that explain the concepts like lift, drag, how airplanes move, VFR rules, IFR rules and so on. 

Technical things like how a piston engine works, jet engine works and so on. 

 

The idea is to get a better understanding aviation in general. It's both to get better at understanding the systems and be a better sim pilot but also because out of interest.

I'm currently reading that and I like to have some more options, maybe focusing on certain areas.

Next stop - "Sporty's Pilot Shop" and buy the whole VFR training program - or any specialty training you want - comes on video...

 

Then sign up for some flying lessons at your local flight school...
