I have "refresh scenery" assigned to the trigger button on my joystick. Anytime blurries appear I press the trigger and a "loading scenery objects" window pops up and five seconds later blurries are gone. I also use it anywhere in the world when flying 16x speed and when going back to 1x speed press the trigger to immediately have the scenery refreshed.
December 9, 200520 yr I bought South Cal Vol 1 at Frys, can I still somehow get a discount? What if I uninstall Vol1 and then install Vol2 could there be problems creating CTDs?
December 9, 200520 yr <>I'm not sure you are correct. It depends on your particular definition of photo-realistic scenery.I'm pretty sure that if you too a photo from, say, 5000 feet above L.A. the ocean would appear as part of the scenery that you photographed.IMHO it is the MAPPED COVERAGE AREA that should lead to the buy/no buy decision. If their maps showed that a given point on the globe was covered and it was not, then there would be a problem. But the practice of attempting to calculate the square area of bodies of water, which in fairness, would have to include lakes and rivers as well as oceans, and decuct that area from the square area advertised by the vendor then we would all need advanced math skills to make our decisions. So, IMO, take a look at the bordered coverage area and if you like it, buy it and don't if you don't.Regards,Jim
December 9, 200520 yr At 1 ft per pixel, a typical LOD13 size area would require about an 11Mb bmp, even with DXT1 compression.scott s..
December 9, 200520 yr Hey Paul, yes it does include the area around KESN although the eastern limit is around 3 miles beyond the airport.
December 9, 200520 yr >At 1 ft per pixel, a typical LOD13 size area would require>about an 11Mb bmp, even with DXT1 compression.>scott s.First of all this scenery isn't rendered at 1 ft/pixel. Megascenery's website refers to 2 feet per pixel source resolution for Washington and Baltimore which encompasses 5,000 square miles -- see: http://www.megascenery.com/prvol5.htm The same URL refer to the remaining 15,000 square miles as having source resolution of 5 meters per pixel (i.e. 16 feet per pixel). Trust me both resolutions are impressive. The Washington and Baltimore resolutions literally take your breath away.
