January 3, 20179 yr Author Notam for present and possible AeroFly FS2 users: 45 minutes ago, on the Orbx site, John V. stated that there will be no Orbx properties developed for X-Plane. X-Plane is now out of the running. There will be at, about, or before June/2017 plays out, beautifully rendered AeroFly 2 releases planned for RTM. So, looks like those of us that are already emotionally invested in this superb flight sim...are going to see within six months or less, Orbx jumping into the fray... Bring it on, Orbx,....bring it on... Ses

January 3, 20179 yr I suppose Orbx will bring their airports to AFS2. I wouldn't expect big surprises. Those airports would suit AFS2 well and fit in easily (unlike X-Plane BTW). The better and fuller autogen placement would also be a big improvement over the more random and sparse default autogen. I do wonder how there pricing will be though. Current DLC is really cheap compared to regular Orbx prices and I doubt if regular Steam gamers are willing to pay those Orbx prices for just a small airport (when they can get the entire Switzerland for 10 bucks). The simmers here won't mind but I do think JV is looking at that big Steam market.
January 3, 20179 yr Aerofly 2 - New York DLC - 4K A look from Rob Ainscough. Note for Rob: I was raised in New York, and the scenery is very accurate except for a few missing landmarks and some buildings that have mysteriously changed colors. I note that both DD and the AF team missed the Guggenheim Museum, and AF kinda flubbed the Grace building. Both well known attractions. All churches seem to have received meticulous detail and all the big ones are there. Now we just need neon at Times Square! Secondary note: As a large city with generous helpings of smog, New York can indeed have very spectacular scarlet dawns and sunsets, probably too red for worldwide, though. We are all connected..... He has mentioned, that for whatever titles one has already, within their Central for P3D or FSX, the AeroFly FS port will be 1/2 of that, for that P3D/FSX 'already invested' user, or near about. So that should give you an indication of what it might be around. $17.00-$22.00 perhaps?
January 3, 20179 yr interesting news. I'm still waiting for some serious aircraft though, and AI is deeply missed. Simmerhead - Making the virtual skies unsafe since 1987!

Ah, ok, so that will be regular Orbx prices then: as I said I doubt if Steam gamers are willing to pay that kind of money for one single airport. Simmers may do so, specially at 50% reduced prices, but new users...?

Simmers may do so, specially at 50% reduced prices, but new users...? Right, I imagine the innuendo, is that new purchasers, will pay the full P3D/FSX 'asking'. Only those with a purchase of the property already and available in their Central 3, will see any reduction over current list. AeroFly FS2 and (x) will be also listed in the user's Central 3, when a property is RTM from Orbx. It will manage your AF2 sim base, and installation of new property into AF2, regarding any Orbx purchase you might make. I'm ready. I deleted P3D 2.4, and have a totally dedicated Velociraptor ready for those purchases, and from other 3rdP devs... I've built the baseball field...and only need the new players to come out of the corn field.... )))) "Oh wait...I hear corn stalks rustling now..."

Simmers may do so, specially at 50% reduced prices, but new users...? Its a typical DLC package size appropriately priced which is why ORBX wants to get onboard. They are already doing this but with possibly added volume.. I will play AF2 again with ORBX content but I'm hoping the engineers can embed an ATC controller. It should be at least equivalent to the FSX one. Regards jja Jim Allen[email protected]SkyPilot Software home of FSXAssist / P3DAssist
January 4, 20179 yr Its a typical DLC package size appropriately priced which is why ORBX wants to get onboard. They are already doing this but with possibly added volume.. Ah, ok, yes, I don't really know much about regular DLC prizes on Steam... My main point however was that Orbx prices are considerably higher than AFS2's own prices: if a casual gamer sees he can get the whole of Switzerland for 10 bucks I doubt if he or she will be inclined to buy one small airport for 25 bucks. Anyway, I will be following very closely what happens to AFS2. For now it's gone though.

Right...if you can get Northeast (New York) and area, for the current, and then Orbx comes in at $17.00-to infinity, I can see your pondering setting in. We will have to see what John does about 'morphing' his price policy to DLC 'normal'. Yeah...you made a good point..... Ses
January 4, 20179 yr Ses I am really considering giving this a try based on your posts. I have version 1 which I like very much, but it is very limited. This seems to have far greater scope and some terrific scenery to explore, plus with Orbx onboard (assuming they stick with it) this has some great potential to become a major force in our little world. Your screens look great Ses, although I have some issue with the lighting on the clouds when the sun is low. Otherwise the visuals look great and that is the main consideration for me.
