January 4, 20179 yr Ipacs has released a public sdk and it does have instructional materials and examples, including a functioning plane which you can get into the sim with little effort. (even I did it) Also, Ipacs has just recently opened a developer subforum. (I suspect it had something to do with Murmur) Beyond that, Lionheart is very into getting his planes into the sim, and has done some preliminary work and started a thread. Lionheart Thread: http://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/threads/aerofly-fs-2-sdk.437762/ Ipacs developer subforum: http://www.ipacs.de/forum/forumdisplay.php/45-Aerofly-FS-2-Flight-Simulator-Developers Thanks HiFlyer. Looking through the SDK now.
January 4, 20179 yr This is also the juncture where most projects fail or succeed. What needs to be done and is the funding / ROI there? Again - is the project at a point where it can be supported by DLC which requires a sound API. If it is then they did a good job. Don't forget though, that the company already has a successful thing going in their mainstay RC product line, as well as their iPad and Android offerings. So they aren't out there completely naked with no other revenue streams. I get the distinct impression that Ipacs didn't really need to do this. They are simmers themselves and they seem to want to do it though. That might make a big difference as well. We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... To the Earth, chemically...... January 4, 20179 yr I was considering buying this, the problem is i like complex aircraft's, there just nothing complex about the sim from what i have watched and read. maybe a future purchase.i want to go forward with learning and no backwards, if i start flying a half baked plane, i will be trying to fly my a320 in x-plane that way.

January 4, 20179 yr i have myself on a monthly budget, i blew by that when i bought the oculus rift cv1, now i am trying to decide if i should go ahead and give aerofly a try or buy the leap motion which is supported for x-plane 11, i almost have myself talked into aerofly and buying leap motion next moth, jumping from platform to platform gets costly.

January 5, 20179 yr just won a leap motion used on eBay for 35.00 bucks, I had 10.00 eBay bucks so it cost me 25.00, so i will probably grab aero fly 2 and give it a whirl.

Just remember the term "early access" From your posts, I think you might be a lot more interested in the upcoming Dash 8 Q400 (whenever that arrives) than Ipacs current offerings. On the other hand, I suspect you will love Aerofly as a VR showcase right off the bat. We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... To the Earth, chemically...... January 5, 20179 yr the only thing i am concerned about, on steam, in the aerofly terms and conditions , it says aerofly may or may not be updated any further.i don't fly p3d or fsx.i am gonna go ahead and buy aerofly, i am just not sure about the simple plane flying.i spent 100's of hours learning how to fly

What flight simulator have you been using instead of FSX or P3D ? The flight dynamics in AEFS2 are very well implemented IMO, and it'll give you a good sensation of being there, specially on the C172 and even the C90 and Baron 58. January 5, 20179 yr I'll stick with FSX, thanks. -It works for me. -All my add-ons work. -Not going to dump money into a new sim when the one I currently have isn't unplayable or broken in any way. Jeff Thomson
January 5, 20179 yr I have been reading through all the post regarding afs2 and the videos look amazing now that orbx are getting involved I will definetly be getting this sim soon, I'm just going to upgrade my PC with a new 1060 card and increase memory to 16gb but have to keep my i5-4670k as I can't afford a i7 yet as I would need a new mobo so hopefully afs2 will run fairly smooth for me. Jim You should be able to enjoy AFS2. Don't know about the NY DLC though: try the default scenery first, I'd say. NY (at least the inner city) is pretty heavy. I have a [email protected] and a GTX780, which is pretty old by now, and NY doesn't run well at all. That 1060 might help but then the CPU might hold you back. (Makes me wonder: is AFS2 a CPU or a GPU sim...? Or both?)
January 5, 20179 yr I didn't realise the cpu would hold the 1060 card back I'm running a 760 card just now maybe best to put the upgrade on hold until I can afford a new cpu as well, but I will try out afs2 still. January 5, 20179 yr I have not tried flying over New York city yet, but framerates on my i5 4690k @ 4.4Ghz/2GB GTX 770/16GB Hyper X Fury DDR3-1600 RAM powered PC have been super smooth so far. However, this is with cumulus clouds at average density, and cirrus clouds at Ultra density. If I max out cumulus clouds, I get stutters when looking to the side. It will be interesting to check out framerates in the dense scenery areas with cumulus clouds switched off....
