Nice relaxation flying over wetlands, forests and between mountains etc.. Already dreaming. :Sleepy:

Oh yeah! AFS2 really shines as it is already in area's like that, without big cities! I have flown in Norway (well, FTX Norway and P3D) for years and I would LOVE seeing that country in AFS2! Don't see that happening too soon, unfortunately, but Alaska... who knows!

As for Jeroen's comments about the New York area, I tend to agree. I purchased it automatically with the simulator itself, but it is a much smaller area than the South Western USA region, and it seems like Manhattan and the surroundings are the only part of this region that are modelled in any great detail.

Hi Christopher - ok so question about the Long Island area as depicted in Aerofly, since this is where I live and would normally do alot of flying. My home base that I typically fly out of is KFRG. Would I actually need to buy the DLC to be able to fly and use the airports around Long Island? i.e. KFRG KISP, KMTP, KHPN are these 4 airports depicted in the base scenery without dlc?...are they there even WITH the dlc??

The San Francisco Bay region holds a lot of special memories for me (because of my extensive use of Flight Unlimited 2, and then Flight Unlimited 3), so this is the region that I want to see in superb detail. The fact that the South Western USA region is considerably larger than the FU2 San Francisco scenery region fits perfectly with my dream of always wanting to see this region extended in FU3. Now I can look forward to flying into Sacramento International, Stockton Metropolitan, and far beyond....

EDIT: If you want to use KFRG, then you will need to purchase the DLC, Dave. There are no airports whatsoever outside the DLC regions, and the resolution of the photoscenery is very low (it only looks good at high altitudes). It's also worth noting that there are only about 15-20 airports in this area, compared to something like 180 in the South Western USA region.

I arrived at San Francisco International in October 1995 for a three week holiday in the USA, and then faced a 200 mile drive to my ultimate destination (Bass Lake, near Oakhurst on the other side of the Central Valley). I am keen to make that trip again at some point in AeroFly FS2. The resolution of the photoscenery seems to be high enough for me to be able to follow the same route from start to finish. I would like to think that I could enjoy seeing lots of interesting landmarks along the way, including the Altamont Pass wind farm. Having the entire route filled out with good quality, accurately positioned autogen/3D landmarks/electricity pylon network etc. would be awesome!

For you folks that are trying to find out the exact airports that are included in the New York area of the Northeastern USA DLC - This is for you.

It should be possible to install only specifi areas.

For instance I would like to be able to install only Swiss, and any other European areas, and I am not at all interested in the USA regions...

Will ask at the forums for some way to be able to selectively install the default version without having to fill my disk with the USA regions...

Here are some interesting videos regarding physics in Aerofly FS2. Just compare them to videos of the Real thing.
Physics are far from Arcade in Aerofly FS2 and the setup of the Extra seems to be very good.

The linked real world video shows the single seater competition version Extra 330SC. It performs a little bit better than the EA330LX.

Very nice and I agree, the flight model in AeroflyFS appears very advanced.

And part of the reason you know that is that you took the opportunity to engage with the developers and actually ask, instead of just assuming. I've enjoyed your back and forth with the developers on the forum.

Thankyou.

I noticed that Froogle's first AeroFly FS2 video on YouTube mentioned that the flight dynamics were "good when staying within the normal flight envelope", but less convincing outside it. Now, he based this on the fact that the WW2 Corsair fighter could be inverted, and then do an inside loop up and over. He seemed to be suggesting that this was not realistic, but I am not so sure. The Corsair was a very fast and powerful fighter plane, and I get the feeling that it might have been capable of doing this (unless there was a fuel flow problem). Does anyone know if that is the case?

Honestly, I suspect it probably could.

Lots of capable WW2 fighters couldn't go inverted for very long due to how the engine was built, then it would cut out. Same thing happened with the 109 that crashed at an airshow in Denmark some time back. The pilot was inverted for too long and the engine cut out, so he had to belly land it in a field.

That was the only real reason I could think of that It might not work. MsFlight demonstrated that really with the engines cutting out in certain maneuvers.

Reading up further it seems that in real life going inverted might not have been a problem. Unexpected snap rolls with no warning were definitely mentioned, though.
