Test Flights/Tutorials for 2.0

Recommended Posts

Hello ... I notice the test flights pdf is for v1.0 of the P2A software. Is there a version of this for 2.0? Or can the original test flights be used in 2.0?

Ninja edit with another question. Is there a way to teach ATC the common names for airports, rather than having to phonetically spell the ICAO codes? Kilo Sierra November Alpha is a huge mouthful.

Bumping to see if someone can answer. Particularly interested in whether there's a way to define an alias for an airport, so that you can say something like "cleared Las Vegas McCarran" instead of "cleared Kilo Lima Alpha Sierra".

Also, I was wondering about what happens when you don't assign a specific voice to an ATC position. Will the program randomly select one of the available SAPI voices?

You can fly the 1.0 test flights in V2.  The UI is different, and V2 has real SIDs STARs and Approaches.

No, as the pilot, you need to refer to airports with their Phonetic codes.  However, ATC will mostly refer to them with their full name.  The problem is with speech recognition of the full names.

Yes, if you don't assign a voice, Pilot2ATC will use a default voice.  Of course, you must have 1 or more voices installed on Windows for it to work at all.

Thanks Dave.

To clarify, when you say "a default voice" does that mean it always uses the one voice selected in the Windows settings screen? Or will it randomly choose one of however many you available?

It selects a voice by attributes, male or female, so no, it does not randomly select voices.  It lets Windows select a voice and depending on what voices you have installed, it will try and select a female for some controllers and a male for others.

If you want to use your voices, it's best to assign them.
