Prop overrun in cruise

Recommended Posts

Hello,

im getting often Prop rpm overrun in cruise. (Pro Version)

cruising in FL220 ,  speed is 20 to 30 knots below max, Prop rpm 850,

mode max crusie is on, but i fly with lower power, most 50 to 55 %.

suddenly one prop switch to over 1000 rpm into the red range.

Engine Warning goes on.

sometime the left, sometime the right engine.

have to shut down and restart the engine to solve this.

but why this happen? in manual i read, turbulence can affect this,

but there are no turb from AS16.

have no overspeed, no icing is reportet in cruise.

If you accidentally move the levers in to feather (which is very easy when using the mouse, sometimes they jump straight from max to feather) it will often cause PEC failure and 1060 prop over rpm. I've found the fix is to quickly pop the condition levers to shut off, then quickly move them back to full before the engine turns off and that usually resets the PECs and gives me propeller RPM control back - but of course this is a bit Russian roulettey as you might accidentally turn the engines off altogether!

Use CTRL SHIFT F2 to adjust the levers and they're less likely jump. Also make sure they're calibrated in a way to avoid accidentally getting feather (you do this in the Majestic control panel). It you're using an external controller for prop RPM it could be "spiking" causing this behaviour.

thanks, i am able to fix  this issue with restart of the broken engine (not in russian mode).

i will be sure, that i did not forget any handle of correct prop setting duricng cruise-

i became this error on every secound flight.

have not any failure found or set in control panel.

maybe an error of AS16? that causes "unvisible" turbulence or an shock in P3D
