ATC misidentifies my aircraft...

Recommended Posts

The atc_id entry in the aircraft.cfg file is correct; N491KQ.  But when flight following or on an instrument flight plan or when contacting the tower they call me 10Q (One Zero Quebec) instead of 1KQ (One Kilo Quebec).

Is there another place in P3Dv3 where they might be getting the wrong ID number?

It's no biggie, but it is rather annoying.

The tires are worn.  The shocks are shot.  The steering is wobbly.  But the engine still runs fine.

Does N491KQ show up in the select aircraft screen? Any chance the pronunciation is making kilo sound like zero?

Yes, on the screen N491KQ shows up even on the ATC screen when I'm flying.  It's only the ATC voice that turns to KILO into ZERO.  I thought at first it might be the pronunciation of KILO, but it's definitely ZERO.

I gave that a shot Jorge.  They still call me 10Q instead of 1KQ.

Well either you changed the wrong livery or there is something else, change the atc_id to N49ABC and see...tell me what aircraft is this so I can test it

Sorry I'm late getting back to you Jorge.  I've been away.

Changed atc_id to N49ABC and ATC comes back with Alpha Bravo Charlie.

My aircraft is the Lionheart Quest Kodiak red passenger.

After doing the ABC test I loaded the default Mooney Bravo Retro,  It's atc_id is N195KT.

ATC identifies it as 5 Zero Tango instead of 5 Kilo Tango.

Apparently the problem is within P3DV3  It sees 'K' as a '0'.

Don't know if that can be fixed.

Noel , I can hear Kilo , but if you want to hear zero it is very easy particularly with the female voice ATC saying the whole registration , the  pilot and ATC male are saying 5kt is very clearly 5KT..seems to be the female accent that makes it sound a bit zero..

It's not that clear to me Jorge.  But at 83 I have a hearing problem so perhaps that's problem.

Thanks for your time and effort.
