FSX malfunction in Windows 10

I have recently installed FSX de Luxe edition from the MS discs. All went well until I tried to select a flight. I get to the first screen with the Cessa on the runway and the engine running. However, when I open the throttle the sounds change correctly but the aircraft does not move. The flaps do not move either. The S key for viewing direction has no effect but the different sound source does. Can anybody help please. If it is an NVIDIA problem or DirectX issue how do I check these? I am not very computer literate so it will need a clear step by step  explanation. I am operating under Windows 10 64 bit and there is ample memory. Any advice would be gratefully received.
