Linda 2.8.7 and 2.8.8 terminating after P3D start

Recommended Posts

Hi Scott

This is happening with Linda 2.8.7 and 2.8.8 with both FSUICP 4958 and FSUICP 4959.

Using Win10 and full install of Prepar3D 3.4.18.19475 and default F22.

I setup Linda and get the all ok's but do not assign anything.

Linda starts with P3D.

During Linda start there is a brief message from Linda about my MCPII (Boeing) not being configured (config not found).

Linda completes startup and says it is ready but then just terminates and disappears. It's not showing in the task tray or in Task Manager.

After shut down of P3D I get the three error reports in Windows Application Event Viewer shown below.

With Linda installed as above, Linda terminating and these error reports seem to always occur.

Removing Linda from the Modules folder results in no Event Viewer error messages.

Thanks for any help,

gb

Also when installing Linda I am getting this Windows message:

"Windows protected your PC.
Windows SmartScreen prevented an unrecognized app from starting. Running this app might put your PC at risk."

This is with UAC at lowest setting and even with Windows Defender turned off.

Just have not seen this before.

Thank you for the report. There are 2 problems here.

You do not have an essential file config-hid.lua for the FSX Default aircraft. This should be created automatically and I will investigate why this is not happening. Please check in folder /modules/Linda-cfg/aircrafts/FSX default and tell me what files are present. If there is a config-hid.default file the copy and rename it config-lua.lua.

The error of shutdown reports are a problem that started with P3Dv3.4. I have in contact with Lockheed Martin and the FSUIPC4 developer but have no solution. LINDA should be closed manually.

Please check in folder /modules/Linda-cfg/aircrafts/FSX default and tell me what files are present. If there is a config-hid.default file the copy and rename it config-lua.lua.

Hi Scot.

The only files in Modules\linda-cfg\aircrafts\FSX Default are:

config-hid-saitek.lua
config-mcp.default
config-mcp2.default
config-mcp2a.default
config-user.lua

Thank you for the info. Do you use any of the default P3D aircraft?

I assume you have been using LINDA before and, if so, you created a backup before installing 2.8.8. Either copy your old config-hid.lua from your backup or use text edit to create a blank file config-hid.lua is the FSX default aircraft folder. This will get you working until I can investigate further.

Not really but I have a few payware that do not have a Linda module so have to use default for those.

I still have the problem of the Linda GUI not coming up.

I have the "Start GUI with sim" checked and the RunIf entry is in the FSUICP ini file

but after the Linda red "Ready" text in-sim there is no GUI on the desktop or in the Task Bar/Tray

or listed in Task Manager. I have to run LINDA.exe manually.

I was experiencing some similar symptoms with the latest version of FSUIPC4 4.959. It has some changes in the LUA running area which were not there or causing problems with 4.958. I will need to play a bit more before I can offer an answer. Tomorrow.
