Realair Lancair Legacy V2

Recommended Posts

Bonjour,

Will it be possible easily to integrate the new products coming for P3D (530W 430W 750 650) in the Realair Lancair Legacy V2.

Merci

Cheers

Claude

It is hard to precisely answer to this question because at the very basic level, any FS-SEX3D gauge can be configured in any 2D panel and VC.

The specifics are only when dealing with 3D models of the gauges, with 3D buttons/knobs, and how the aircraft developer as coded the 3D model so that actions with the mouse on the button or the knob translates to commands to the gauge overlaid/painted on top of the 3D polygons.

In its most basic form, FS itself does the translation from mouse 3D click to gauge 2D click transparently anyhow.

Merci Jean-Luc...

Let me quote what is written in the legacy lancair manual.

The Config Panel automatically detects which of these third party GPS gauges you
currently have installed. You can only install either of these third party gauges if
they are currently installed on your PC. If you do not have either of these gauges
installed you will only be able to select the ‘No GPS’ and ‘default GPS 500’ options.

Reality XP do not sell a version of their GNS gauges that are compatible with P3D.
For this reason you cannot install Reality XP GNS gauges into the P3D version of
the Legacy V2.

You will see one or two drop down boxes allowing you to select your exact GPS
installation. You will only see the second drop down box if the first GPS selected
can be installed alongside a second GPS.

So now that you are going to provide compatibility with P3D, I was wondering if the integration would be possible.

Cheers

Claude

This is an entire different problem: the developer 'config' tool typically scans your hard drive for known gauge files and builds a list. It decides then to allow or forbid certain pre-configured panel.cfg files based on the list.

For all aircrafts/config tools/etc... in existence that expect a certain Reality XP GNS gauge filename, they all will be compatible provided we keep the same filename.

We have to gauge if it would be better during the installation of our GNS 530W/430W V2 for FS-SEX3D if we rename the older file, and install the new file with the same name, or if we keep the older one as-is, and install under a new name. This really depends on what you, the customers, would prefer, and this has to be balanced with backward compatibility and such.

Nevertheless, in the case of installing with a new name, we can still document here on in the manual the simple procedure that would consist in renaming your new gauge to the old name.

Besides these tools, backward compatibility also has to do with all the rest, that is keyboard shortcuts, config files, and a number of other things related to the various 'virtual bus' links between our legacy GNS and our other gauges. This makes the whole situation a little bit harder to cope with with so many variables.

Our plan for now is to at least maintain most of the backward compatibility for the 'core' GNS simulation and gauge.

And realair has stopped their activities. so we have to deal with existing features.

(but some companies have contacted them and showed interest to continue their works. So may be...)
