Preset Hotkey doesn't exit cinematic mode

I'm flying along for 10 minutes without touching the controls, chaseplane kicks into cinematic mode, but when I click the button defined for my preferred preset (cockpit view), cinema mode just resets its viewpoint.

 

I have to bring up the chaseplane interface and select my preferred preset with the mouse.

 

Am I doing something wrong?
