Upgrading graphics card or CPU?

Hi all, Just a quick question. 

 

I currently have a GTX 770, I5 4670K 3.4Ghz, Ive put aside $500.00 to upgrade either my CPU or GPU, what do you guys reckon? And also what type of cpu or gpu would you pick? 

 

All suggestions are appreciated 

 

Edit * I know 500.00 wont get my far, but with currently doing my flight training in real life its really put a hole in my wallet lol

You will benefit most with a faster cpu - a 6700k or the new 7700k

Both within your budget, BUT they are socket 1151.

Your 4670 is socked 1150 so you will need a new motherboard too :(

I recommend i 7 6700k. When you obtain it, you wont even need to OC it, its so fast ether way + more durable.

I would look at overlooking that cpu vs getting a new one.

 

I still have an i5-3570k, but it's overclocked at 4.6ghz. It deals with P3d and Xplane11 fine.

So on average ive seen i can get the I7 6700K for $495, I can also get a motherboard with the 1151 socket for another $85. What do you guys think? I can also get my hands on a GTX 1060 for $300? Is it worth getting the GTX 1060 aswell or just stick to my 770

If you want to go for better graphics while using Xplane sure but for p3d and fsx its not needed. STill a 1060 is a good call Make sure its oe with at least 6 gigs though... promise you, when you are runing xplane you need that 8 gigs of vram.

If you are going for a new motherboard, make sure the chipset is Z170 or Z270 otherwise you will not be able to OC !

Personally, i would save up for a 1070

Since you really need to get the best bang for the buck - as far as P3D goes - overclock that CPU - 4.3 or 4.4 should be find. Get a 1070. It's the best price/performance option. The difference between the 1070 and 1080 is not worth the difference in price unless you have $$$ to burn.

 

P3D makes much more use of the GPU than FSX and is less reliant on the CPU
