Jim Vile at FS Developer Passed Away

Recommended Posts

I just read over at the FS Developer Forums that Jim Vile, one of the best approach builders in Flight Sim, passed away in September 2016.  His tutorial for adding the third runway at Washington National  was...and still is...my guide for almost all airport mods I  did and will ever do in the future.

Jim personally helped me with several airport project I worked on for myself. His feedback was crucial to my success.  I leaned heavily on he and David "Opa" Marshall and now both are gone.  Odd how terribly you can miss someone you never got the chance to meet in person.

My heart goes out to his family.  Rest in Peace Jim.

Hi Folks,

Wow - a legend and a true pioneer - the first to master the curved Kai Tak approach for AI...

Fair winds and following seas - sir...

Regards,
Scott

Jim directly helped me to understand the possibilities for multiple parallel approaches for AI on certain airports like LAX or ATL in FS. So I have a great working LAX afcad with this and it is always a pleasure to watch and work with it.

A big, big loss for our community. He will be greatly missed. My thoughts to his family and friends.

RIP Jim and thank you for your contribution which will last for another years to come.

Farewell friend, and may you rest in peace.

Very sorry to hear this news. Jim helped me a great deal over the years. His contributions to the flight sim community will be greatly missed.
