Immediate performance drop. Why?

Recommended Posts

Howard,

One other thing you might want to check is the power state of your GPU while the sim is running.  I had a similar problem a month ago with P3D and it was because my GPU was not staying in P0 but would drop to P2 in the sim over time.  this caused a frame rate drop and stutters.  This was due to the water setting on high, it's been a known issue in the past and I'm not sure it was fixed by LM.  Anyway I dropped my water setting to medium and I haven't seen the problem return.

Also be sure and check Rob A's P3D Guide if you haven't already done so.

I would setup and run Process Monitor as I suggested on Page 16 (or 17) of the AVSIM CTD Guide (see link in my signature).  It will show you exactly what was loading when the fps dropped suddenly.  I would suggest it was AI.

Best regards,

Jim

Strange thing is i have been viewing a livestream on youtube where as16 was being used and he had no fps drop and stutters in dense clouds.

Cheers

I also have no issues with AS16.  There is another problem and AS16 probably makes it worse.

The issue appears with AS16 SP1 when used with ASCA SP1, mainly on P3D 3.4 (Hadn't have it since rolling back to P 3.3).

Due to SLI issues I immediately rolled back to 3.4 HF1  and still do not have these issues with or without SLI. AS16 may be the program that puts it over the edge but something else is going on that may be the root cause of the issue. HiFi is looking into it and if there's anything that can be improved, you can be sure they will implement it.

I'm really saddened at this, because I used AS for many years with FSX and never experienced a single issue. I need to add, that not only have I experienced a problem in P3D, but also in FSX-SE, which I had installed for a few weeks back in October and November.
