Whats after 747 v3? I have a suggestion

Recommended Posts

The have to do

NGX remake or even the 737max

777-200ER

EFB

Level D had announced years ago that they were developing the 757.Even after 10 years they continue to say that is coming.

A 787 would be a fantastic idea but they have to see how QW will be.

A 767 series would be awesome idea but we have already an outdated one.

The biggest gap was between fully modeled airbuses untill now i believe with the new one.

It won't be the C-17, but I wish it was!  Boeing family, 4 engines, tactical level performance in a big jet....

Although I flew every rivet out of the LVLD B767 back then and I whould buy a PMDG one when it releases I still hope they look into the B787. I know there is already one beeing done but it is not PMDG :).

But before all that I hope they continue with the B737 V3? and the B777-200ER types!

Untill then I have enough to cover with the 737, 777 and 747!

The 737MAX have 3606 orders. This aircraft is a must-have for the simulator.

Great, yet another 767 request thread. One should be enough. Anyway I'm sure PMDG are well aware there is a demand for a good quality 767 (and 757 come to that). Much as I'd like a 767, I'd prefer it if the J41 was brought up to date with P3D and FSX-SE versions. Also the 777-200ER. Then maybe satisfy the continued demand for variants of the 737 that were planned but have been put to one side, such as the BBJ and -400ER.

If you do not know the 767-400 has never been done and its cockpit is essentially was the test platform for the 777.

It was the other way around, the 767-400 flightdeck was based on the existing 777 design. Captain Sim announced a 767-400 expansion years ago but they never built it.

Late last year I found a post in the LevelD forums where DShutt has stated that the development of the LevelD 757 is suspended. That fact has likely little to do with PMDG's development plans, which I guess is looking beyond Boeing. Maybe the Embraer 170/175/190 family - not Boeing, not Airbus, and only tackled by Wilco.

In truth I suspect they're doing the 737 Max, it's really the obvious choice. FS 737s sell like hot cakes, always have, like the real 737 continues to do, so there is little doubt that an FS version of the 737 Max would do so too.

Thus the virtual Boeing versus Airbus war which we are customers in when buying snazzy study-level sim aircraft, very much reflects real-world airliner sales war which EADS and Boeing sales people fight. When you consider that as far as we are concerned, FSL and PMDG are as EADS and Boeing are to the airlines, then from a commercial standpoint, it would be foolish to not create the competitor to FSL's Airbus, and that competitor going forward, is not the NG, it's the Max, so any FS developer can reasonably expect sales to somewhat reflect what occurs with real 737/A320 sales; and that would indeed be good news for PMDG because...

EADS may claim that the Neo Airbus is a 737 killer, but the order books don't bear that claim out, it's still nearly fifty/fifty on sales with in fact Boeing slightly ahead on orders. From an FS development standpoint, particularly for PMDG (and indeed iFly if they are considering it too), if you've already built an NG, you're at least halfway there in making a 737 Max, since despite claims from EADS that the 737 sacrifices fleet commonality from the NG, in truth it's not much worse than the commonality differences the NG has with the Classic, and likewise the Classic with the Original, sure there are differences, but you would hope so if it's an evolution from the current model. Yeah the cockpit on the Max is different, but it ain't that different, largely it's just the bigger PFD which has changed. Fuselage too is a little different, but again, not massively so. Thus your main difference as an FS developer is the landing gear and the engine, and some additional (and according to Boeing, 'minimal') FB system changes. all of which are detailed on this from Boeing:

http://787updates.newairplane.com/Boeing787Updates/media/Boeing787Updates/Aviation%20Experts/1113_737_MAX_DASr2-2.pdf

From a marketing standpoint it's fortunate in terms of timing too. The 737 will have been in continuous production for 50 years by 2018, so one can expect a lot of media publicity about that, and again as a business, PMDG will doubtless be aware that if you can time a product launch with some big media coverage, you effectively get a crapload of advertising for free.

It's a no brainer.

The Boeing 707, 717, 727, 737, 757, 767, 777, 787, and the future 797, all with "real world" updates, engine variations, sharklets, winglets, graphic enhancements, longer ranges, freighters, additional click spots, pilots who don't look like the're from the Walking Dead, views of passenger cabins, realistic strobes, etc. etc. etc.

So, which one could be the very next PMDG project?  Perhaps none of the above?

With a such a talented group of developers why would folks insist they work on yet another modern Boeing Aircraft?  Just how much different would it be from what we already have in the current line-up?  Although I love the 767 as much as the next person and in fact flew the wings off the Level-D version, we're well represented in the Big Iron Modern Boeing Aircraft from PDMG.  I'd like to see this team continue to push their comfort level into entirely new areas.

It's a great time for Flight Simulation Enthusiasts.

Given the quality of the products they have offered for Prepar3D so far, I'll buy their next upcoming aircraft no matter what it is.  Even if it's a kite or paper airplane simulation....because?  I know they took it to the extreme.

While I appreciate the enthusiasm, I'm always somewhat startled by the number suggestions that creep up at the end of a development cycle. The assumption seems to be "well, now that you're done, you must just now be thinking about things that you might do next." The reality is that we've already had that discussion, and in order to minimize the number of people idly standing by without direction on what to do next, that discussion happened quite a long time ago. This enables us to roll people off of a project when they're done, and onto a new project, even while some of the others are finishing up the current project.

...you just haven't been told what it is yet.

...or more accurately, you haven't been told what all of it is yet.

What these guys forget is that the 747 is NOT over. There's tech support, service packs and the -8 to go and the tech support for that too. Also the next whole aircraft after the 747 was decided loong ago haha

I hate to sound like a broken record, but as a current 757/767 pilot myself, I'm all for this idea. I love the enthusiasm for the airplanes because while they may be old, they are still phenomenal aircraft. The 747 may be dead as far as Boeing is concerned, but the 767 is seeing a fantastic resurgence here in the US. Between the new FedEx orders and second hand frames going through conversion (the case with my company), there is quite a market for this plane.

The leading competitor is over a decade old and has some inaccuracies, and the other one that was just on sale is awful. I hate to say, but there are so many inaccuracies that it is impossible to fly. PMDG may never make a 757/767, but I sure hope they do, it would be a terrific addition to their lineup.
