5930k @ 4.5 to 7700k @ 5ghz worth a try?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Just asking all the 7700k owners, did you see a good boost OCing to 5ghz?

My current system is:

5930k @ 4.5

Titan XP

3000mhz DDR4 RAM

240GB nVME SSD.

1440p monitor.

I know it's a 0.5ghz boost, will it make much of a difference? 6 vs 4 core variable in the mix too.

Thanks for your help

James

Intel 10900k @ 5.1 HT on, Nvidia 3090, 32GB RAM @3800mhz, 1TB NVME Drive (P3Dv5.1), 1440p 48' Ultrawide Monitor.

Turbo for 7700K is 4.5 GHz. So an additional 500 MHz to 5 GHz. Some contrarians will tell you it's not, but overclocking in a well balanced system is linear. So an additional 12%. So at 30 frames per second an additional 3.6 frames per second.

The point is that it's free extra performance though, so why not go for it. And great fun. But overclocking isn't the be all and end all.
