Repainting: How to change registration/selcal decal?

I was working on a livery for a Cargo VA but could not figure out how to change the registration decal in the cockpit just below the gear lever. It was not mentioned in the paintkit readme. Maybe I missed something.

I was working on a livery for a Cargo VA but could not figure out how to change the registration decal in the cockpit just below the gear lever. It was not mentioned in the paintkit readme. Maybe I missed something.

What I did was use DXTBMP to convert the DDS to bmp. Then paint over the current registration with black. Write in whatever you want. Save as bmp. Then with DXTBMP open the bmp you just saved. Then import the Alpha channel using the bmp you just saved as well. Convert to dds and it should work.

sounds so simple, but it took me an hour to get it sorted last night!!

And THAT is one of the little things that can add so much time to a repaint, hehe.  Once you get it and do it a few times its pretty easy, but until then you can pull more than a few hairs out trying to figure it out.
