P3D 3.4 and latest AS 16 Update

Recommended Posts

I know what you mean Bob.

VolFog was something I liked too.

Perhaps someday in the future..

Edit: Ok, I wanted to try something in the middle, so this is the result with max upper vis @ 140 (that is actually quite convincing):

Try 200 I did and it looks great and also help performance.

At this point they recommand to turn VolFog off...

At what point Gerard?

I'll give that a try.

This setting removes the additional haze layer, right?

Which max draw distance have you set for your clouds?

Damian and Jordan advise this at their forums..

The VolFog issue has improved but is far from solved.

yes but it still looks great.

My min and max drawing distances are both set to 90.

More does hurt my performance pretty significantally.

Thanks for you answer anyways, I'll give 200 a try tonight.

A few are reporting issues but HiFi cannot duplicate the problem and the beta team have not had any issues of that type at all. With PTA, Envtex and various cloud products there are quite a few combinations and variables outside of AS16/ASCA that could be the culprit, including video drivers.

Vic

This is what has me concerned, since a few  other members are having issues with the latest update that AS 16 folks can't duplicate.  Someone  emailed me with the exact problem I was having with 6239, yesterday after he installed update. I got an email from the ticket that I filled out, and they  told me to do a total uninstall of AS 16 and then reinstall it to see if I have an installation problem. Frankly I doubt that, because I installed the update three separate times with the same result. Again, nothing was changed in my system that was running perfectly except updating to 6239, and immediate problems. Undo update by rolling back to previous trouble free version , problems go away, reinstall update, problems return. At this point in time, I think I am just going to leave well enough alone.

I had really bad performance yesterday evening on approach to EKCH ILS 04L in the clouds with snow. UTC 20.20-20.50. Using the FSL A320-X.

FPS about 50% cut (15-18) through the clouds. as soon i was free FPS was back.

Those landinglights and wing lights really light those clouds up.

So many updates these days. Hard to find the culprit

Thanks Michael Moe

Reading through this thread is somehow confusing. Sorry for my incompetence, but what would be the best (performance-wise): In sim volumetric fog on or off?  Fog layer in AS16 active or not? Max vis. 200 or less?

That is why I have made it a rule since the early days of FS9 to never install more than one update at a time, and then make about 1/2 dozen flights to see if there are any negative effects before installing another one.

I agree with Bob. Through no real fault of the developers, incompatibilities between add ons can be very difficult to track down. The last one added before a problem is the final straw but not necessarily the actual culprit. Adding two or three at once and then trying to isolate the problem becomes very difficult.

Sure, it's a slow way to install add ons but how much time do you waste tracking down a problem after a multiple install?

Some one once said " Sometimes it's faster to do it the hard way than to try and find the easy way".

You are right offcause. We should slow down. Its just so damn hard with automatic updates from ORBX, Oldprop etc.

Just for the record. Today my Windows 10 64 updated the Nvidia from 376.33 to 376.53 all by it self via Windows update.

Since i am against all these automatic updates i thought why not just go back to 373.06 so my SLI will work with my 3.4.9.18400.

Did the saved flight into EKCH ILS04L that troubled me yesterday and now it was perfect.

So staying here for now

Thanks Michael Moe
