Flight Planners?

So, what Flight Planner Apps are going to work?

Please, no weblinks to online planners, I already know of them.

So, what Flight Planner Apps are going to work?

PFPX works.

One thing that people often forget is the Transitive Property of Simming:

If a developer models a product (A) after a real world aircraft (B), and another developer models a product © after a real world aircraft (B); if A = B, and B = C, A = C.

Just because we've released a new version of the 747-400 doesn't mean all prior 747-400 planning tools need to be re-written.

Quite correct Kyle. I find the existing 747 profiles in topcat and pfpx to be very accurate, possibly more so than the 777 profiles.

I use PSPX regularly with the default B747 profiles.  Flight plans are exported to .../PMDG/Flightplans, and then I import them into the sim via the CDU.  Works like a champ.

FYI - This thread points to additional, more refined B747 PFPX profiles that were developed a couple years ago and are available for downloading and adding to PFPX.

PFPX is an amazing program.

It is very customiseable, relatively easy to use (the manual is pretty poor though - but lots of knowledgeable users on the forum).

A must-have add-on for me.  Lots of OFP formats available to help make your plan look like the airline's that your simulating.

Cheers,

Are you saying we cannot import flight plans from free online services,,only from paid ones?

I believe as long as your flight planner produces a file in the correct .rte format, it should be importable into the CDU.  Not an expert here, but there are other posts here that verify this... example here.

SimBrief shows PMDG  flight plan downloads as an .rte so would those still work with the 747?

If it is a correct .rte format, it should work.  If they are free, go ahead and give it a try.

I would but I do not have the 747 yet and this could be a roadblock if I have to pay for a flightplan service.

I hope to have an official answer to this so I can buy this plane.

PFPX works fine, however small weight adjustments are necessary. I would like to know what pmdg takes as passenger weight + baggage.

But that is payware, I want to know if this plane will import .rte files from places like Sim Brief.
