Is my config file broken?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I would like to extend the distance at which textures render, but whenever I increase the LOD setting in my config, there is no effect in the game. Is there something i'm doing wrong?

How far past the default 4.5 are you going?  Are you changing the number in the FSX.cfg or are you changing a slider position?  Moving a slider after changing the .cfg setting will affect it.

I'vep seen your video. You're pretty much maxed out on your distance renderingc settings mate. Ito's not getting better than this. Your specs are fine, so are your settings. Learn to live with it. Sorry!

I'm going to 5.5, and I haven't opened the settings tab at all since tweaking the config.

Oh man! I don't know what happened, I never got pop ins like that before, and one day it started... At least my graphics look amazing, just have to deal with pop ins everywhere :(

a bigger LOD only works if you save your settings and then manually with notepad edit the LOD to 5.5 or higher, then start FSX and then in the settings tab load the settings you made and the change will be there, just changing the LOD in the .cfg doesn' work, everytime you start FSX it will return to default 4.5.

If you're running the DX10 fixer then it can set the LOD. However, similar to what Herman said, if you make any changes to the graphics settings via the FSX sliders etc. then it will revert back to 4.5.

I got into the habit of altering the sliders then quitting FSX, checking the fixer to change the lod  then re-launching FSX.
