Is there a way to increase VC resolution?

Recommended Posts

First of all great job! It handles amazingly and I feel now I am a real 747 pilot :P

Secondly I find it a bit hard to read sometimes the different screens etc, is there a way to increase the resolution? I know it might have a performance hit, but I am still curious to know

Press SHIFT + O on your keyboard and use your mouse wheel to zoom in and back out and to move around the cockpit by moving the mouse, then reset to your preferred view and press SHIFT + O to cancel..

Why not just hold "SPACE" while moving freely around the cockpit with the mouse, zoom in, zoom out at will and when done just release "SPACE"? This is why i don't understand why people use EZDOK and such. I wish X-Plane had such a great scheme implemented for its views.

Anyway, maybe your issue is related to low antialiasing or texture filtering settings in the video card?

You are mainly limited by your own screen resolution. The VC only looks low res if you are zoomed out too much. The EICAS display is a fraction of your monitor area, and so EICAS resolution is effectively a fraction of your monitor resolution.

 XPlane does have a much better view system. Right mouse click to look around IIRC. Scroll wheel to zoom.

I am using zoom 1 value. But I will zoom in more, just thought maybe there was a way to make things more readable

Hey Boaz,

I'm not sure what resolution or graphic equipment you're running but the VC graphics are razor sharp on my screen, I can't fathom them being more sharp short of sitting in the real cockpit.

I have a 55 inch 4k TV running with a GTX 970 just under 4K rez (can't remember the numbers but its just under 3840x2160)

I'm not sure if there was anything texture map wise that you could do to improve the sharpness....I think you have to work with higher resolutions with your graphics hardware/software.

Actually, how sharp the cockpit graphics are in the new PMDG 747 was one of the first things that struck me when I bought it, but, if I need to view things better, I just hit space and roll the mouse wheel.

I can't be arsed with EZDOK and all that malarkey, principally because it buggers up the VC in several of my aircraft and it even stopped it displaying in one of my add-on aeroplanes (took me ages to suss out it was EZDOK doing that, and I let the developer know that was the case after I'd been emailing them about the issue). Good luck to those who like EZDOK, it is a cool product, but I don't get along with it so needless to say, I uninstalled it.

Holding the right mouse button does exactly that in X-Plane! You can look around freely and zoom in and out, using the mouse wheel, at the same time! ;-)

Even using 1024 resolution textures I can perfectly read the instruments, but I set 1x zoom factor and adjust my position accordingly to see the panel and outside.

I saw some people on youtube flying with a zoom factor to wide open, so unrealistic I don't understand why.

With zoom at 1, ill can only see the pfd and ND and thats all on a 1440p monitor

Not if you adjust your position a little bit. But sure you can't see the entire cockpit on a flat 2D screen.
