P3D v 4 in beta?

Recommended Posts

I won't invest in 32bit anymore.

I have to move my sliders to the left, not because my fps is suffering but because of ooms :(

I must say when p3d is 64 bit, it will be an exciting time, i would love to run orbx global, vector and the mesh with fs dream team Memphis with active sky in a snow storm with the pmdg 747,777 or fsl a320 with airport traffic and decent car traffic at 30fps. i may only be 39 years old but i like to live now, not in the future, that's why I do most of my flights in x-plane.

No kidding, not that I have that problem hehe, but everyone buys these monster systems to pull sliders back LOL!  We don't have that issue in XP.  However OOM's did of course exist when XP10 was 32bit.

My prediction, if and when Version 4 comes out, within hours, people will download and install it, and 40+ minutes after that will be on this forum with a list of complaints about how none of the add ons work, and are there any fixes for that yet.   :nea:

I wonder if we could start a pool on the time it takes.........

That is a locked in certainty.

I found it funny that in the past people were complaining that P3d is not 64 bit and now, when it is just about to be released, they complain that other people would complain.

Lets try not to get this topic locked guys! For sure, P3D v4 is in the works and it might be close - as in a 2017 arrival - and we may speculate. If this topic is sensible enough we might get some hints more? Lets see..... !

IMHO a 64 bit P3D will barry XP.

Barry will probably agree.

I'm afraid you're right but I actually hope people will realize when making such a huge step as going to 64-bit that many things won't work from day 1 and for some products there will be both a waiting time and even a requirement to pay for the same product again.

However what is happening is something most of us in here wished for for a long time, to have our platform transformed into something more 2017.

Personally I hope it won't be only 64-bit but also that they made the required changes to the core of the product that will brake compatibility with lots of add-ons but that will more importantly open up for a platform that will have the chance to utilize our hardware in a much more efficient way and that will include what it takes to meet the future with VR and lots of other cool stuff ahead of us.

Completely agree.

Assuming LM assists in efforts to transform an addon to be 64 bit, then it wont take that long for addons to be compatible. Theres a larger stake here. Money. Its an opportunity to revive sales. Lets just hope they are very reasonable about it instead of greedy and in the 10-20$ upgrade fee range. Anything much beyond that would definitely inhibit the migration.

True but I guess when it comes to the upgrade cost for add-ons it will be the same thing as always on an open market where people more than anything want to make money.

Most will probably try to charge us as much as they dare (or have to to survive) but if they get too greedy the sales won't be what they hoped for meaning they will instead make less in the end due to their greediness.

Always a delicate balance some have learned to handle well and others not...
