Nvidia Control Panel Setting For X-plane 11

Recommended Posts

Can someone please explain the difference between the Enhance the application setting  and the Override setting for the anti-aliasing mode in the Nvidia control panel . (under the x-plane.exe setting)

How do these settings work with the graphic settings inside the x-plane program?

I have a GTX980 video card and would like to use more of the cards capability rather than slowing down the sim using higher higher internal graphic settings. When I turn down the internal settings and set the cards to the (16 x)  on the ant-aliasing my video does not look as good as when I am running a 4 x anti-aliasing from inside the program.

If I set the AA internally up to max (8x) my frame rate drops to the teens from the low 30s. at (4x) Also big time stutters. That is another reason to utilize the video card settings over the sim's.

Finally, is there a way to make the scenery colors to look as bright and vivid as they do in X-plane 10? Even when I turn off the on-line real time wx and force the visibility to 100 miles, it still looks like I am flying on a  hazy southern California day.

While I can't help much with the AA settings, I am having good success with reshade for getting more lively colors. Notably I replaced the XP internal HDR by reshade HDR even helping a bit with performance (as you probably know XP internal HDR is much more complex than just HDR). You have to play a bit with (and google for) the various settings, though.

I agree that while on a cold misty Winter day XP11 colors are certainly good and proper they are totally off on a bright Summer day, even more after a cold front passing. I was in hope LR would correct this during the betas, but now got the impression they are rather proud of their achievement.

Kind regards, Michael

Blu FX can also handle those quick color changes to make them stand out as well.

Thanks for the HDR/color info. Maybe we are suppose to get 4K screens that support HDR in order to archive a normal/X-p 10 like color?

Still looking for words of wisdom on the AA settings for inside the program and outside on the video card.

I see in the above example you have all the settings controlled by the program, yet you can get higher levels of AA through the Nvidia  control panel (up to 16 X ). The only way to see that via the program is to turn off the HDR settings. Again I would like to know the relationship of the program settings to the video cards control panel setting. Who is the boss when it comes to the X-plane program?

Also noted in the picture above is something called DSR. I have the most current Nvidia drivers available for my GTX 980 which is 378.66 and I have never seen a line labeled DSR in any of the previous drivers either. Is DSR something the program needs?
