FsEarttiles 1.3 : shapes imported from AreaKML do not show up on Map

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Don't know why , but the shapes do not show up on the FsET 1.3 map.

I can make seperate Exclude Areas .

Windows 10 64 and I use FsET as Administrator.

Google Earth 7.1.8.3036 --> can FsET1.3 read the KML files from this version ? I remember something like this with v1.0 and a former Google Earth version..

Your suggestions are very welcome ..

Gerard, I have had similar issues in the past.  IIRC it was something to do with the polygons in GE that didnt have the correct attributes.  After I played around with them and changed them it worked, but I don't remember exactly now what it was that needed to be changed sorry! :( Cheers K

This morning I tried with earlier GE versions : 4.2 and 5.0 but the issue remains te same. No shapes appear on the FsET 1.3 map.

I have the AreaKML.kml file in the Work folder and it has the 2 subfiles. Both are Polygons and both have their coordinates saved on the appearance tab.

Also I reinstalled v1.03 and used the exmaple KML file to see what that did.

In GE 5.0 the KML areas are showing , but in FsEt nothing comes up...

I am running FsET in W7 compatibility mode to be sure...

Imho the example KML file areas should show up in FsEt 1.03 as they were used in the example in de new doc.

The Google Earth version has nothign to do with it.

Either is has to do with W10 64 , even in W7 compatibility mode. Or some king of ini setting... KMLusage is on in the ini file.

Help is still appriciated.

Small update :

1 The polygon featuyre does not work on my system : nothing appears on the FsET map and also "cutting' out tiles does not work

2 The path feature is working, so coastlines/deep water etc can be made. It does not show up on the map, but it is working.

As written before I am on W10 64.

I had to put my pc back together so I could test for you ( I don't use use flight sims anymore).

It is definitely showing up the KML files correctly on my W7 32, W10 32 and my W10 64 machines.

PM you ini file and I can take a look when I get a chance.

The only limitation I remember with using KML files was that you had to have area per file. In other words you cannot create two areas that are disjointed in the same kml file.

What happens if you drag and drop the kml file onto the map? Does it redraw the map in the correct location at least. This would indicate the program is reading the file correctly but is just not drawing the shapes.

I was using 1.03b (been so long since I last used it) so cannot remember if there was a 'c' version.

I also passed the project onto somebody else over a year ago, not sure if they have done much work on it as I haven't been around the forums lately. Maybe if you post in the other topic they might respond.

Mark
