Skipping SIDs & STARs

Recommended Posts

I'd like to start flying the JS 4100 with FSEconomy a bit more and about 75% of the airports I visit (with other aircraft) are small regional airports and most of them don't have SIDs, STARs or instrument approaches. After figuring out how to add them into the flight plan (by adding a K in front) I've got them in the FMC. However, I'm running into issues where I just want to select a runway.

For example, KBNA -> 1A0

I have the option to select 02C (for example) but it forces me to choose a SID, when I just want to choose the runway and skip the SID and transition.

Same with the arrival runway (18) at 1A0. I can select the runway but it doesn't allow me to proceed with committing the arrival runway because there's no STAR or transition.

Is there a way that I can choose runways via the departure/arrival menus but not include the SID/STAR/Transition components?

The DEP/ARR menus are there specifically to add a SID/STAR. Simply skip this step. There's no real advantage to selecting a runway.

Kyle,

Gotcha. Makes total sense! Appreciate the prompt response. Loving the aircraft.

Glad to hear it. Yeah, it's one of my favorites because it keeps me lower and in the scenery into and out of smaller airfields.

Yep, it looks to be the perfect turboprop for FSEconomy in terms of short field performance, passenger capacity, range and ownership costs. I also really appreciated your Tutorial video on YouTube that compliments the written manual. Visualizing certain steps were much easier (for my learning style) as some of the switches and steps weren't crystal clear in written form.

Glad it helped. I usually like paper form more, since it's an easier reference when in the sim, but it's definitely nice to see how it all flows in video (beforehand, in my case).
