with several hundred security leaks in Firefox discovered so far from what I hear it's a lot worse than IE...At least Microsoft makes an effort to solve problems, Netscape/Mozilla just tell you tough luck maybe in the next version.

Firefox is a product from the same people who brought us Mozilla which is based on the same code which is Netscape...I've tried it myself and abandoned it as a POS. Slow, takes up way too much screen realestate, etc. etc. etc.Yes there are potential problems with ALL browsers. Such is the nature of them. If people keep up with their updates though and use common sense they need not fear.I've been online since 1997 for hours a day, never got a single trojan or whatever infect my machines. Simply put, I don't do stupid things like visit sites to get cracks or use P2P software.I use common sense instead of hoping someone else will think for me and then blame someone at random when I get burned...

The fact is that there are far, far more people running IE than running FireFox. This means that it's far more effective to write something that exploits IE than that expoits FF, even if finding an FF exploit is easier.This probably means that there will always be more exploits for IE than for FF. However, far more worrying for users of FF is that only 72% of the KNOWN FF exploits have been closed by the Mozilla Foundation. This means that 18% are out there, known about by hackers and the malicious, but there is NO fix or patch. (And you can read all about that stat at the Secunia site if you choose)This is a simple balancing act for users. Yes, there are more people seeking to exploit IE, but when they succeed, there are more people at MS to get a patch out. Less people looking for FF errors, but when they succeed, there's less people to try to find a fix.Richard
