massive t-storms in northern europe winter??

Recommended Posts

I'm relatively new to the product but I'm wondering what is going on.  I Was flying over the Netherlands tonight and got hit with huge amounts of towering cumulus cells near AMS... This doesn't seem right at all.  I looked up Netherlands weather and there are no T-Storms just wind warnings.  I don't think massive t-storms are usual in that location at this time of the year.   I use AS16 + ASCA with P3D and FSlabs A320..

Without knowing which metar was used, it would be impossible to tell. If it happens again, try to get the exact metar being used from AS16.

In Europe, thick cumulus clouds are often indicated by "CB" in METAR reports, which normally indicates thunderstorms - though in this case they are not.

In the setup menu of both ASN and AS16, there is an option to the effect of "suppress thunderstorms with CB reports". That's not the exact wording, but  close. Checking that option should fix your problem. Thunderstorms will still be generated if "TRW" appears in a METAR.
