May 21, 20179 yr I don't really dislike "The other sim which shall be nameless." But when I fly X-plane at night, to paraphrase this threads title: "I'm still amazed." I think "This is so cool, wow it looks real!" Then I go fly in the daytime, and things fall off from there, but hey, nothings perfect. It has potential. And when I fly in Aerofly FS 2, again, the feeling, at least graphically, is one of amazement. It's so fast, it's so smooth, it's so pretty!!! Then you leave the detailed DLC areas, and things fall off because of the lack of buildings. But my imagination still smiles because if they can just add the buildings, this will be a BEAST!! Both X-plane and to a greater degree AF have the ability to make me spontaneously smile, and in VR Aerofly can still make my jaw drop amazement of what I'm experiencing: Like nothing I ever expected to see. They both scream of potential. And that's my main problem with the other sim so far. Its everything that I've seen before. Often better. Multiple times. For years and years. But I won't delete it: the thought never crossed my mind. I will watch and wait. And who knows? Maybe the horse will sing. I do agree with J Van E though. I went to Ny and just cringed and cringed. May 21, 20179 yr Yes, both are great, but Heck! This NY add-ons is a true MUST SEE !!!! Didn't yet get time to visit the Valley.... What puzzles me is that, I get 60 fps in VSync ON mode, and 120 fps in 120 Mode !!! Incredible !!! And this is my i5 2500 + GTX 960 ! May 21, 20179 yr have been away from FS2 for a while. Just curious ,what is the NY add-on? Or you're referring to the Northestern add-on that includes NYC? Just in case I missed sth... 9950X3D / 64GB / RTX5090 / Pimax Crystal Light / Win11

Just in case I missed sth... Yes, that is the one. That name is a bit odd because although a few other airports in the area have been added the DLC is mainly about NY Manhattan. The rest is a bit empty. 1 hour ago, jcomm said: Yes, both are great, but Heck! This NY add-ons is a true MUST SEE !!!! Didn't yet get time to visit the Valley.... Yes, it is great to see Manhattan with smooth performance, isn't it? And that is real smooth performance, not FSX-smooth. In FSW my fps was 16 and it looked really bad. In AFS2 it looks pretty nice and fps is incredible. And I would disable Vsync for now because a lot of people get stutters with it. Without Vsync fps will usually be above way 100. With my 1080 I can get an fps of something like 500 in certain area's. It's incredible. Try that in one of the other sims. EDIT I decided to check it and started AFS2 without the Rift in normal mode: fps around Manhattan was around 100 (settings Ultra). You have to see it to know how smooth that flies. That's a lot better than and fps 16 in FSW with default scenery. And I also checked fps in a remote area in Utah (only desert and mountains) and there fps was around 650. Yes, 650. Obviously the scenery there is nothing but photoreal but still: try getting an fps of 650 in a remote area in any other sim.
May 22, 20179 yr AeroFly2 FS definitely get s great FPS! I am waiting for iPacs to complete the weather system and the 3rd party airports and aircraft. The feeling of actually being there keeps on making my jaw drop. Yes, you do get used to the 3D effect in the cockpit, just like you do get used to 3D in real life LOL, but still, the immersion... I just did a flight from a high altitude airport to a lower one and at one moment I passed a mountain ridge and saw a truly immense valley in front of me, with mountains on the side in the far away distance and the setting sun was shining... I mean... seriously... I WAS THERE! It didn't LOOK immense, it WAS immense! But even less inspiring areas and circumstances look so real when I look down out of my Cessna (a plane which I never liked but which has become my favorite in AFS2). The mountains, the fields, heck, even the flat city textures (which I used to HATE in other sims) look so cool...! (BTW Generic textures are a thing of the past for me: when you are 'really out there' generic textures simply don't cut it anymore: the extremely realistic diversity of photoreal textures, flat as they may look here and there, ups the immersion factor with a few 100 percent and generic textures can never ever show you all that photoreal shows you. Generic textures are so extremely limited... I can't even imagine anymore liking them in FSX, P3D and XP!) Anyway, just wanted to say that the Rift and Aerofly FS 2 are a match made in heaven and the best investment ever (when it comes to (sort of) 'flightsim related hardware'). Not a flight goes by without me thinking 'WOW'. I can't stop shaking my head in disbelief that I am really experiencing this. It is the best experience by far. A dream come true. Incredible. I 100% agreed with what you said, I feel the same way I7-10700F RTX 3070 32 Gig Ram
