Allegedly, Intel are working on a 12 core 24 thread CPU in an attempt to counter the Ryzen processor lineup from AMD. But will the specs stand up?

This will be a Skylake X processor.

It's not news, it's speculation.  The original source says Intel *could* do this, not that they *are*.  I want to see such a chip as much as the next guy, but not at Intel prices.

No doubt at 12x the cost of a Ryzen chip 1800X as well!

Depends... if AMD are now a true competitor, Intel may be forced to lower prices.

Intel doesn't lower prices.  They give rebates to their partners and put pressure on them to buy a certain number of product (thus effectively preventing them from buying from the competition).
