Got my 2nd VRINSIGHT unit

Recommended Posts

Guys, any heads up for a second VRINSIGHT unit Boeing MCP II on same OS where Airbus FCU was already installed? I've received MCP II today, so my plan is physically to swap them when necessary, just pulling out USB and Power cords, and placing the other unit in place of the first one and connecting it to the same wires. Do I still need to install VRI driver? I'd guess the drivers are different. Do I need to plug in the unit before installation? Or should I install the driver first then connect the unit?

Thanks,

Dirk.

PS: I thought FCU Airbus was really good, Boeing MCPII is also great!

Hi Dirk

Welcome to the 2 Combo panel club. I use both the MCP2 and MCP2a for LINDA development work. You will need to physically swap them over depending which one you wish to use. The VRi Serial FP drivers work with both and you will find each will have its own Com Port number. To change over you need to swap the lead between the panels and then go to the LINDA Setup Combo to change to Type and Comport to the new one. The Flt Sim must be restarted for LINDA to connect to the new com port.

Excellent! My rack is built so that it is very convenient to swap VRI panels, it's a matter of 30 seconds not more - unplug the USB and Power cords, remove the panel and put the new one in place, connect the same 2 cords, turn on PC. So the Com Port numbers will be different, even though I will not need to install the new drivers and will use the same USB connection?

Thanks,

Igor.

That is correct. Windows will register the 2 panels as different com ports and you will only need one USB lead.
