Recommended Posts

Took my new Alabeo Piper Tri-Pacer from Freedom Municipal Airport (K77) in Freedom, OK to Fairview Municipal Airport (6K4) in Fairview, OK.  Practiced some VFR flying by following the Cimarron River through Northwest Oklahoma's Mesa studded terrain.
Scenery Used:  REX Texture Direct w/ Softclouds, ORBX FTX Global + Vector + Trees HD + OpenLC NA.

Great looking shots....made that flight myself following the river..there are prairie grass dunes along one side and at Waynoka exposed dunes called Little Sahara State Park

The other side of the river are erosion mesas exposing red orange color soil very beautiful scenic flight.

The whole area is pretty interesting.  The entire area was one part of an ocean a few million years ago and that helped create many of the features common to the region, notably the Mesa ranges (known as the Blaine Escarpment) and the red dirt.  A few miles south of Freedom is Alabaster Caverns State Park which is home to the largest Gypsum Cave in the world that is open to the public.
