PMDG 747 v3 P3D Locator question

Recommended Posts

Hi, I hope this is the correct forum.

Last night, In the PMDG 747 v3, as I was being vectored into Rwy 28 at EIDW, Approach cleared me for the ILS. I clicked on the LOC button but it did not show up on my display and no Glide Slope indicators either. I had the runway set in the FMC and I was at fix LAPMO @FL3000.

I had the autopilot active but not LNAV or VNAV modes at the time but when I hand fly patterns without AP, this has never occured.

I'd appreciate any ideas what I did wrong?

Cheers

Perhaps that runway is not present in the database.  I have noted this at KORD and other airports.  Try the flight again but choose a different runway.

It's because you're at FL3000 (300,000FT)! That's too high to pick up ILS information, try descending to a lower altitude. Thanks

Hi,

Are you using the default P3D stock scenery or a addon for EIDW?

Have you checked the ILS frequency on the map of P3D? The ILS frequency stored in the FMC is updated with the AIRAC (I believe the 747 comes with the 1702, but current is 1703 if you have updated it).
However the ILS frequency in P3D default scenery may be well outdated.

Even an payware or freeware scenery may be outdated depending on the date of release.

If you are using the default scenery and you find the ils frequency doesn't match the one of the current chart, then you can update P3D navaids from this website:

http://www.aero.sors.fr/navaids3.html

However, this won't work on an custom scenery.

I checked the ILS 28 at EIDW in my P3D installation, and it does indeed show 111.35, as on the current chart - but I also use the Herve Sors updates.

If the OP has never updated the stock ILS database, it may have originally been something other than 111.35?
