Cockpit/Performace Differences of Engine Variants

Recommended Posts

I might have missed it in the books, and I did a search I could not find anything. What are the major difference, if any between the different engines on the 744. Any gauge differences? Start up issue? Performance?

Yes, yes and yes.

Rolls Royce and Pratt Whitney engines use EPR instead of N1 as the primary parameter. The Rolls Royce has an extra spool ("N3")

Startup times are different and Autostart control is different, EGT limits are different.

Fuel flow is different.

GE engine mounts protrude further into the wing, so less fuel is available.

PW Engines have hydraulically powered reversers (the other two use bleed air)

The differences are basically endless.

Hope this helps

Cheers
