Will your FSX flight planner work if you use another aircraft?  Like a default 737?  Was this the first time you tried using the Aerosim 787?

Well, here comes the fun part!  If this is an actual CTD Fatal error or crash to desktop, then to

troubleshoot it we will need a faulting module.

Control Panel-> Administrative Tools-> Event Viewer, select Custom Views-> Administrative Events.
One of the listed events will be for your CTD. The "Faulting Module" should point to the problem area.

Tell us what the Faulting Module is! That will point us in the direction of the proper error, aiding in troubleshooting.

BELOW IS A SAMPLE OF WHAT YOU MIGHT SEE!

General Tab:
Faulting application name: fsx.exe, version: 10.0.61637.0, time stamp: 0x46fadb14
Faulting module name: This is what we need to know!
Exception code: 0xc0000005
Fault offset: 0x0000ee3a
Faulting process id: 0x748
Faulting application start time: 0x01ce0253dc4b69d4
Faulting application path: R:\FSX\fsx.exe
Faulting module path: R:\FSX\window.dll
Report Id: 9caf77b4-6e50-11e2-8570-3085a99825d1

If there is not one listed:
Faulting module name: unknown, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x00000000,
you will need to do as previously noted

No Faulting Module? ->
Remove all of the add-ons, and test the sim. If it works OK, then reinstall them one at a time and test.
Be sure to test each thoroughly before moving on to the next

  1. In the Free Flight window select the Flight Planner before anything else.
  2. When the window opens immediately disable the V and J airways view buttons across the top.
  3. Exit the flight Planner window.
  4. Exit FSX
  5. Restart PC
  6. Restart FSX

It's a bug that can be caused by various add-on aircraft/ scenery.

Hope this helps.

If that doesn't work come back and I'll show you how to edit the fsx.cfg file to achieve the same thing.

Save a copy of your cfg file. Then delete the original and let the sim rebuild a new cfg. Try the flight planner again and if it works then there is a bug in your original cfg file. Quite often it is a setting in the flight planner like maps for example. Rebuild your cfg file bit by bit until it crashes and then you know the fault.

to FSX.CFG.tmp

Quit screwing around with that FSX.cfg.txt file!!!!  All changes and deletions happen to the FSX.cfg

only!

If you already tried deleting the FSX.cfg  then it might be time to think about doing a Repair.  GOOGLE SEARCH about doing a Repair before attempting.
