Flightsimcon Attendance

Recommended Posts

I will be attending Flightsimcon 2017 for the first time this year. I'll be leaving the Chicago area on Thursday morning, and driving towards Windsor Locks, CT stopping overnight in Clarion, PA (about half-way). I'll drive the last segment on Friday morning and arrive in time to pick up my convention materials and register late Friday afternoon.

I'm really looking forward to connecting and possibly re-connecting with fellow developers and simmers I've only corresponded with over the past twenty-some years!

Fr. Bill,

I will also be attending FlightSimCon for the first time. I am looking forward to meeting you. I did attend the 2006 Avsim conference in D.C.

We've purchased our tickets for (wife and I) ... hopefully we can make it, but my current work load may prevent my attendance (I may be at a trade show in Vegas the Friday night before - we're pushing a new product for my company - not related to FS - and some tech is needed to help the sell) ... on "stand-by" ...

My first attendance also ... just need to provide free rounds of drinks to all so I can get an understanding of what's really happening in the industry ... assuming I can remember the day after ... :)

Cheers, Rob.

I'll be there as well. Round three for myself. Still considering exhibiting.

I'll be attending for my first time. Looking forward to the entire shooting match. Be good to meet some other like minded people. Retired last year so finally I can make the schedule work.

Where do I come for these free drinks?

I'll be travelling over from Heathrow in the UK (3352 miles direct) on a shiny new Virgin Atlantic 787-9 with a couple of my colleagues from Just Flight (stand 216).

We'll be arriving on Wednesday night so hopefully I'll bump into some familiar faces before the show.

I am certainly glad to have a few weeks to recover before FlightSimCon next month!

I am thoroughly exhausted from this past weekend at the annual Dayton Hamvention. This year I volunteered to drive a six passenger golf cart as part of the "shuttle crew" ferrying attendees from the off-site parking to the main entrance (about one mile). We had a fleet of 32 working pretty much non-stop from 7am until 6pm. From Friday morning to Sunday afternoon, we transported close to 20 thousand attendees!

I got home yesterday just about noon CST and collapsed in my bed after unloading the car. I don't even remember going to sleep...

n4gix,

It was wonderful to finally meet you in person at the convention!

Great discussion and exhibits this year and the venue is an improvement.

For those of you onsite - I couldn't make the drive over today (Saturday) due to work and family obligations, but I'll be in attendance tomorrow. I hope to run into as many forum folks as I can!

I was there.

Spent time with Fr. Bill, met Ted Striker, met Jim Young.

All in all was a good event.

Gah - Ed, I saw your nametag but didn't put 2+2 together with who you might be "digitally". I suspect there were more than a few of us milling about who would recognize each other by our forum names vs. real ones.

I was able to put a few names and faces together at the conference, though. It was nice to actually speak face to face with some the people you've only interacted with through forum postings. We can get product information and previews through all sorts of channels, but we don't often get a chance to say hello for real.  This conference for me was much more about trying to meet the people in the hobby... the people behind the scenes and behind the keyboards.

A good time!

-Greg
