ntdll.dll CTD

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone,

I just did a full reinstall on Windows in the past 3 days. I reinstalled P3D but have run into a CTD issue. It only happens when I am doing long hauls. Short hauls are fine, it is has happened in both he PMDG 747 and 777. Any ideas would be helpful.

In the AVSIM CTD Guide, page 33 (see link in my signature), there is a long discussion about this error and some probable solutions based on research I conducted across the Internet and from my own experiences.

Most likely your settings are set too high and, on a long haul, they really tax your system especially on descent.  A bad overclock (if you are overclocked) will cause this too.

Best regards,

Jim

Hey Jim, I'll take a look, thanks. I do have a substantial OC running on my PC. 4.5 ghz to be exact.. would your recommend trying removing that first?

The overclock has caused my ntdll.dll errors more than anything else and, when I returned to the optimal defaults, the error msg stopped.  I have not had the error since putting together my current system because I mainly use the Optimal Default (4.5GHz is the optimal default for the i7 7700K).

The OC could have done it in your case in that on long flights, you have more of a chance that P3D would call textures it has a hard time rendering and causing a conflict with the CPU voltage.  If the voltage is just one tenth of a point above or below, it will cause your sim to crash to prevent further damage.  That's my theory.  I'm sure there's someone who knows what he's talking about who would have another.

Best regards,

Jim
