Belgium 2012 free photoscenery

Recommended Posts

Hello, and thanks a lot for upping those files

I downloaded all 13 files (took me 3 days ;D); but 7zip and winrar both complain and refuse to extract the file (file size look ok for all files). Any chance to a par2 parity file so I can find with of the 13 files is damaged ? (http://www.par2.net/)

Best regards

G

Responding to self, just in case someone hits the same issue. It looks like the last 'stable' 64 bits version of 7zip sees the files as damaged, but the x86 version doesn't (more isn't always good buy the look of it !)

G

I have the same issue. All 12 files are 300MB + 1 13th file.

They have no file extensions. Are they zip files or rar files?

When I tri to extract them from 7-zip 64 or win 7 windows...they are not opening.

32bit 7zip works on the first file only. others it errors out "Cannot open as archive"

Well opening the first file is all you need, 7zip is opening the other ones automaticaly, you should see one folder (or 3, cannot remember), extract it and install it as described

Thanks for helping, gandalf3.

I've stopped my current upload to Mediafire to check some things first, just in case. First, the 64bit problems made me wonder since the files were packed with the x64 7-Zip version (9.20, which is current). So I've downloaded them, clicked the first file and the extraction worked without a hiccup. Means I can't replicate the problem with the 64bit version on my system.

Some general 7-Zip handling tips.

As gandalf3 points out, all you need to do is to click the first file and pick 7-Zip to open it or start 7-Zip and browse to the downloaded files, still aiming for the first one. It will know how to handle the rest of the files with extensions like 008 or 013. Those numbers are just describing the actual part number and you don't have to care about those.

The filehoster did not allow large archives, hence the need to cut the big file into smaller pieces. That's the same on the upcoming Mediafire upload. Expect some 19 200mb files.

The archives aren't zip or rar, they are 7zip archives. It's an open source soft, being used quite often and staying free. That's why I've picked it over e.g. WinRar. So there's no limited test version or something, but a fully capable archiver soft.

One can choose to assign the file extensions to 7-Zip, but this isn't needed when using the methods mentioned above. So you have at least 3 methods to open the files. Clicking them and picking 7-Zip to open, opening 7-Zip and browsing to their location or assigning the file extensions to 7-Zip.

Whatever you chose, just click 'extract' and point the program to a folder where you would like to see the extracted files. This will give you one large 'Belgium 2012' folder with three subfolders. Mind the readme files on how to install the stuff.

I think that, by accident, the autogen enhancement is already installed. However, you still will get some extra archive for those things, just in case. If you don't like it, just delete the 'textures' subfolder of the Belgium 2012 photo folder.

The questions on how to install scenery in FSX and especially on Win7 aren't part of this thread, but I'm sure one can find them quickly with the search feature.

I just found this file at avsim.com: belgium-the-west-flanders_-autogen-v1.zip

Just place the TEXTURE files of this zip file in the beautifull Belgian Photo Scenery 2012 made by Gerard (GSalden) to have the whole province of West-Vlaanderen covered and the surrounding of the 6 airports.

Very nice alternative addition to the great work of Gerard!

Now this looks like a good tip. Thanks for that. I will try it soon.

I didn't had any probs extracting the files on a 64bit system.

I did however had 1 download that was only 89mb, so I had to re-download it.

That might be the problem for others.

Scenery looks great, only a bit low zoom level ;)

I almost got all ready for the autogen, I'm just in search for a good visual object browser so I can easy macth the guid's with the types in the shape files

Sounds good, penguin. Good point on the download size. Perhaps the one connection was interrupted and caused the archive to stay that small, which then triggered inevitable problems. On the new upload, I will deliver the file sizes and hash values, just in case. This will allow the folks to compare the values.

Keep on going on the autogen. Sounds like you are one of those penguins from Madagascar, being pretty tech savy. ^_^

Announcement :

in a short while an additional Tree autogen package will be released for airport surroundings.

Hi Gerard,

Just to ask about the status of the additional Tree autogen package you are developping.

It looks like (part of?) this package is already included in the torrent downloads Kevinfirth provides,

but since this download is so huge and i have already downloaded the photoscenery from your first release in may, i wanted to ask you if you are still planning to release the Tree autogen package as a separate update file?

greetings,

Bart

If you are talking about the Enhancement Package, I can attach a single link for that one later. This will add autogen and some afcad files.

With Gerard's approval, this is the Mediafire upload.

  • Belgium 2012 (includes Belgium 2012 fix : repairs textures not showing up in the Limburg area)
  • Belgium Enhancement package (puts autogen trees near multiple airports (made by Aimé Leclercq), Afcad files for all default airports so they will fit the photo scenery (made by Joop Mak)
  • Brussels HD

http://www.mediafire...1ky58ymqskj6kwp

Clicking the above link will lead you to an online folder at Mediafire, allowing a download of 19 archives, each being 200mb in size (except for the last one). The download speed should be good. The interface is done with Flash. Download them one by one.

Pictures of the scenery. http://forum.avsim.n...cement-package/

If you are looking for another filehoster, find links to Sendspace here. The file size is bigger, so you only have to load 13 separate files, being 300mb in size (except for the last one). The contents are the same of course. The download speed may be limited. Unckeck that option to use their download manager. You won't need that.

Don't mix the two uploads. This won't work because I had to alter the file size of the files. So while the resulting (extracted) Belgium 2012 files will be the same, the archives can't be mixed. Means you can download at Mediafire or Sendspace.

You don't need to sign up anywhere to download, but you will surely see some ads. Those hosting services are free to use after all.

The files are packed with 7-Zip. That's a free open source packer. You can get it here. http://www.7-zip.org/

To extract, place all downloaded archives in the same folder and click the first one, Belgium 2012.7z.001. Then choose 'extract' and define the folder you want to extract to. The result will be a folder called Belgium 2012, consisting of three subfolders and a text file.

The scenery installation should be pretty straightforward. Just move the folders to a place on your disk and add them to the FSX scenery library. For adding the contents of the Belgium Enhancement package, just follow the included readme file. I've already added the autogen part. In case you want to delete this one, delete the 'texture' subfolder of Belgium 2012.

As a tip from another thread, make sure to have Brussels HD above Belgium 2012 Photo. When using NL2000 (freeware for the Netherlands), move Belgium below the Netherlands to avoid problems around Maastricht.

The links will stay alive as long as someone downloads them within 30 days. So spread the word. :Peace:

If you just need the Enhancement Package, find it here. http://www.sendspace.com/file/wgz8s9 You don't need to download this if you have the above large downloads. This is just for the folks already running the base scenery and only looking for the enhancements.

For feedback on the download or praises to Gerard's (and friends) work, please use this thread.

CoolP thank you very much for the link, i hadn't realised this was done yet.

So i don't have to download all the files again.

Can i just mix them with the other Belgium 2012 (1 en 2) and Brussels HD \ scenery .bgl files ?

Thank you in advance!

I could upload it all to Rapidshare if it's ok with the developer and if it would be helpful.

Played yesterday with with shape files to create agn file (autogen)

All those apps are written in 32bit, so all input must be small, and thus time consuming :(

As for the scenery, best is to leave out the airports.

Locations and directions are wrong, so landing with ILS will make you crash

If you have mega airports installed, it's total nightmare ;)

Part from that, it's great to fly vrf now

It should be in the library very soon.

I'm sorry, Bart. I don't have the separate files for the fix anymore. They are all within the large package now.

The afcad files just go to an active scenery folder. Just make sure to disable the ones you don't need. Means that e.g. Brussels or Liege should be left out if you run other payware or freeware there.

Thanks for the new autogen, Gerard. I will surely take a look later.

That's ok coolP, thank you for answering.

Maybe sombody else has still the "fix files"?

Or maybe the master himself, Gerard?

A HU for the folks downloading. (Un)fortunately, my uploaded version includes the extra autogen and afcad files being already installed in the Belgium 2012 scenery folder. This won't do harm of course and may even make the installation easier, except for case when running other freeware or payware airports in Belgium.

In that case, head to the Belgium 2012\Belgium 2012 Photo\scenery folder and disable the ICAO names on demand. For example, for Brussels (with Aerosoft's Megaairport installed), turn off or delete the AFX_EBBR_ADE.bgl file. For Liege (with some other freeware), do the same for AFX_EBLG_ADE.bgl.

Renaming them to off or just moving the files away will do and avoids duplicate airport definitions.
