UTX and GEX in FSX-SE

Recommended Posts

Just curious, has anyone tried using GEX and UTX with FSX-SE?  I'm putting my FSX back together since a system overhaul and still have the packages. Just wondering if anyone has used them and what the results might have been.

Thanks

Thank you.

I was quite pleased to find out after years of not playing FSX since my boxed acceleration version would never install on my Windows 7 machine, that all of my UTX scenery and GEX not only worked when I switched to FSX:SE, they even updated to the most recent versions  so it was money well spent many years ago. I haven't noticed any issues at all and the 3D lights finally properly work for me. They never did on my old XP machine (flickering, etc).

I installed both UTX and GEX which didn't cause any glitches and all seems to be fine. However, yesterday when I validated my files due to some missing scenery areas, I ended up with a 17gb download from Steam. I checked all my FSX files and it appears that my scenery directory was downloaded again. UTX says it's active and verifies. Interesting. I'll try to get some time to make a flight and see what's what. I wondered what would happen when you modify the FS files with add-ons and then verified with Steam. I think now I know. It's going to take some testing though to actually verify what happened.  I also wonder if the gauges directory would be affected if you install a 3rd party aircraft and later on verify, or if you modify a stock aircraft and verify.

This will be an interesting little journey through Steams impact on the program. Maybe nothing, maybe something. We'll see.

Thank you.

This will be very interesting since I havent dared to verify gamecache since when I only had a few addons, mainly DLCs. Now with loads of addons I wonder what will happen to addons like FTX Global, UTX2 and Toga Envtex f.e.
