V1 call outs

Recommended Posts

Good day guys, I'm probably going to get a smack in the teeth for this but here it goes, The queen is not saying V1 rotate callouts even though I got it set to PNF makes calls in the FMC. I've got everything set up right and I've even reinstalled the aircraft set the takeoff speeds on the FMC but still no call outs. Any help please?

Is that the only call missing or are all calls missing?

Check the setting for EGPWS V1 callout on pg 3/22 of the aircraft options.  I'm pretty sure both these have to be YES for the callout... not absolute but that is how mine are setup and my V1 callout works.

EGPWS V1 call-out would be the call-out made by the computerized voice, not by the first officer. That said, this may sound silly, but check to make sure you actually entered the V-speeds into the FMC. If you're looking at the PFD and it says No V-speeds, this would do it. In the FMC, on the take-off reference page, the speeds have to be in big letters. If they're not, click on the LSK keys next to the speeds to activate them.

Dang, I assumed too much.  I always wondered but never explored the EGPWS verses FO callouts.  Does one override the other or do you hear two callouts? One of these days I'll look under that rock.

The EGPWS overrides the First Officer (yes, I literally just tested this (you're WELcome)). I guess they figured in normal circumstances, if the EGPWS were to call it out, the First Officer wouldn't have a need to do so.

I've changed "V1" to "GO" and deleted "80 Knots" and "Positive Rate of Climb"

Not sure why you needed to delete them when you could have just as easily turned them off via the FMC. I'm really curious as to why you changed V1 to what you did, though.
