Airliners Cockpit wind sounds

Recommended Posts

Hi all, just want to know if this looks about right for the cockpit wind sounds for an airliner.(WIND_SOUND) filename=BAIRminimum_volume=4000maximum_volume=200000minimum_rate=0.7maximum_rate=1.8minimum_speed=240.0maximum_speed=550.0I heard from a real Southwest Airlines 737 captain that you really start to hear the sounds around 250kts. Can anyone elabrate on that? I tried it on Ericks DC-9, MD80s and 727 but its so quiet during takeoff and landing and all I hear is the cockpit fans. Is this accurate for a rear engine aircraft? Thanks,Bill

On a 727 all there really is up front is wind noise. The 737 has more engine content but since it shares the same nose, it gets about as much wind noise as a 727. Try lowering the minimum_speed=240 down to about 90.00 and see what happens. The 727 starts to pick up wind noise at around 100 knots.Cheers,JohnBoeing 727/737 & Lockheed C-130/L-100 Mechanichttp://www.sstsim.com/images/team/JR.jpg
