Soldier Bar Idaho 85U Sloped Runway

Featured Replies

I have used SBuilderX to create Photoreal Airport Area Sceneries, but they have always been in the "flattened" airport background areas of the file.

I would like to try my hand at the sloping dirt runway at Soldier Bar USFS Airstrip in my home state of Idaho.  Right now I have the photoreal texture overlaying an FSGenesis Idaho Mesh.  I also used ADEX and opened the 85U Stock Airport, removed the flat runway (but left the ARP in the actual lat/lon it goes).  I added a USFS looking building and some Douglas Fir pine trees and I can find the airport and land on the slope of the mesh using the photoreal texture as a guide, but there is no actual "runway" of dirt per se, just a visual.

This is fine for me, but I would like to try my hand at placing a sloped dirt polygon to kind of "outline" where the dirt strip is.  It would be much easier to spot during approach than a texture that gets fuzzier the closer you get.

Watched a couple of tutorials and read a tutorial that was made before people realized you could build a sloped runway with a ground polygon.  The video tutorial was extremely hard to follow and covered things like how files are named and a history of FSX.  It was slow going.  I followed the written word step by step system much better, but can find no written tutorials specifically for building a sloped runway.

Any ideas.

Have you tried the file in the AVSIM Library - https://library.avsim.net/download.php?DLID=161019?  File name - building_sloping_runways_w-b.zip.  You will need to be logged into the Library to download.
