Just Flight HS 748 Propliner: latest opinions?

Recommended Posts

When this aircraft was released several months ago, there were a number of negative comments on this forum: particularly in terms of poor VC, weak textures and missing or faulty functionality. Since then two or three service packs have now been released, including one a couple of weeks ago, it would be good to hear from those who bought the aircraft and have now installed the service packs, if they feel that some of these weaknesses have been addressed. I would really like to buy this aircraft, but was turned off by some of the comments. I did notice that a few buyers, including a former HS748 pilot, said they were happy with the product. Would be grateful for any comments.

For me, with all SPs installed, is still a waste of time and money, parked in my hangar already. It's a shame, because the "Avro" is an interesting old aircraft.

I'd say it depends. It depends on what you're expecting.

Is it PMDG level systems and flight model? No.

Is it Carenado level? Pretty much. Really, it's typical of Just Flight offerings.

I think it looks OK; inside and out. Nothing wrong with the VC or the exterior. Not perfect, but there it is.

The systems are middling. I was hoping for more, since I've flown RR Darts but it's typical of turbine modeling in P3D/FSX. Close, but no cigar.

Do I fly it? Only very rarely. There's better aircraft (obviously) out there, but this is the only HS 748 available.

Thanks to you both for your comments. I think I'll just pass on this one. I have been looking for a really good twin engine prop airliner from the 50's/60's, and was hoping this one would be it. We have the Manfred C47/DC3, an excellent aircraft, better than most payware models. But that seems to be it. Not aware of any other quality twin propliner, except the Razbam Metroliner, which I have but it seems to have a few quirks. I would really like to see someone develop the old Convair CV240/440 piston liners. Flew this as a passenger many times when I was a kid. I think it would be a lot of fun.

The Justflight Fokker F27 Friendship is a reasonably good model. Not PMDG quality, but it works without quirks and looks fine.

If you can live with four engines there's also the A2A Connie and, at some point in the future, the DC-6 of PMDG.
