PreciptFX and special aircraft locations

Recommended Posts

Hi, just want to know if PrecipitFX would take into account and would add all the effects to the aircraft that are installed outside the main directory of P3D (as recommended by LM) or outside the normal path but still inside the P3D main directory?.

Thanks, Ed

Cheers, Ed

Yes, for P3D, VFXCentral will scan all the folders in your simobjects.cfg file

Hi Keven! And what about addons like A2A planes that are installed outside simobjects.cfg? (Using the add-on.xml file in C:\Users\youruser\Documents\Prepar3D v4 Add-ons\A2A folder)

In my case i have A2A planes in a complete diferent folder outside P3D and outside documents folder:

<SimBase.Document Type="AddOnXml" version="4,0" id="add-on">
    <AddOn.Name>A2A</AddOn.Name>
    <AddOn.Description>Aircraft by A2A Simulations Inc.</AddOn.Description>
    <AddOn.Component>
        <Category>Effects</Category>
        <Path>E:\P3Dv4 Add-ons\A2A\Effects</Path>
    </AddOn.Component>
    <AddOn.Component>
        <Category>Fonts</Category>
        <Path>E:\P3Dv4 Add-ons\A2A\Fonts</Path>
    </AddOn.Component>
    <AddOn.Component>
        <Category>Gauges</Category>
        <Path>E:\P3Dv4 Add-ons\A2A\Gauges</Path>
    </AddOn.Component>
    <AddOn.Component>
        <Category>Scripts</Category>
        <Path>E:\P3Dv4 Add-ons\A2A\Scripts</Path>
    </AddOn.Component>
    <AddOn.Component>
        <Category>SimObjects</Category>
        <Path>E:\P3Dv4 Add-ons\A2A\SimObjects\Airplanes</Path>
    </AddOn.Component>
</SimBase.Document>

This method is not working currently with preciptFX. This addons is currently not being scanned by PreciptFX.

Thanks!

How about including a means of installing/removing the effect/s aircraft specific using a list of installed aircraft? Versus the current method of choosing modify/uninstall>Override existing settings (all 3rd party aircraft).

Is this solved already?!
