Is BlackBox Simulations A330 Prologue v0.85.2 Okay

Recommended Posts

Guest JustanotherPilot

I need an Airbus A330 for some of my VA long routes. I have been waiting for the Aerosoft A330 release but this seems to be taking forever and was wondering if anyone can recommend the BB A330 as an 'interim' aircraft until the AS release. There seems to be mixed reviews on textures/systems but these mostly relate to FSX users and pre v.0.85.2. Is anyone using the latest release (v0.85.2) in Prepar3D and would they recommend it for my reasons mentioned.

As you say, just as an interim aircraft, but likely to be discarded when the AS 330 is released hopefully during summer this year.

Reccomending is a big word. I'd say that if you really need to have you could go ahead and buy it.

Keep in mind the VLS as calculated by the mcdu is always wrong (it can be 6 to 8knts or even more lower that it should) and so you need to calculate your own. If you try to land manually and in managed speed  and  accepting the  vls calculated by the  mcdu, not turning  off both  flight directors will mean that you  will  stall and go down like a brick very often. It's a russian roulette

If you can put up with the above and you don't mind the price...give it a go

Doesn't sound very reassuring...might give it a miss, thanks for the info.

There is a solution for the stall. Have a look at BBS forum.

I fly it often, without problem...

"OK" is probably a good term for it.

It works, my two biggest irritations are that you have to enter the flightplan manually - you can't grab it from an external flight planner or the one built into p3d, and that the engines will not generate the "growl" sound at high thrust settings regardless of the sound set.  It is a known issue related to aircraft coding.  Takeoffs are pretty anticlimactic as a result.

I have not managed to fly this aircraft as one of the updates some time ago means that the brakes are permanently on and cannot be released.

Can't recommend it.

If you mean the  same measurement system "trick"  well you will still crash because the mcdu doesnt get the vls right.
