Wrong ILS frequency in CDU

Recommended Posts

The ILS frequency displayed in the CDU is not correct.

To give an example: EBBR to EIDW landing on rwy 28, the CDU shows 111.35, heading 279. The heading is correct, but ILS should be 108.90. The flight goes correct, but of course fails to autoland due to the wrong freq.

For planning I use FSC and PFPX and both have the correct ILS. All are updated with the latest 1705 airac data.

Hi,

The ILS frequency in the CDU depends on the AIRAC installed and not on the nav data of the sim. 111.35 is the correct real frequency for the ils 28 at EIDW and as the nav data in the sim is way outdated (2006) you will find a mismatch.

The best way to fix it is to update the nav database of the sim (unless you want to revert to an AIRAC dated 2006 in the CDU if ever you can still find one) :

Sorry, I don't get it :(

If 111.35 is the correct freq (and I think you are correct) then why are both PFPX and FSC showing 108.90 when they are up to date with the latest navigraph data ?

By the way, I updated my navaids with the site you mention and I think that is when the mismatches began.

There is a database within FSX last updated 2006 when Microsoft lost interest in the product.

You can see what FSX thinks by finding the airport in the FSX Map. Use those freqs and all will be well, or revise them by doing what Romain suggests.

I have never seen ILS frequencies in PFPX but I will check in mine. For FSC, I have not used it since a very long time, maybe does it build its own database based on the one of the sim?

Also, be aware that the update from the website only works on the stock sceneries. If you have a custom scenery installed for EIDW, then it takes a higher priority over the stock scenery and won't be updated by the tool.

Edit: Where do you get the ILS frequency in PFPX? I cannot find any.

Just fired up my PFPX planning a flight, and I too do not see any ILS frequencies.

FSC too uses Navigraph AIRACs and, if updated, shows correct ILS frequencies.

My mistake, I was looking at efass, not pfpx - sorry.

Looking at the map (I'm using p3d), the freq for rwy 28 shows 108.90 despite I updated the sim database. Must be because like Romain said, I have addon scenery for EIDW.  Funny that also fsc shows 108.90 - so looks like fsc is using the sim database

When you open the "airport Information" window in FSC you see a red text "Based on file: xxxx".
So at least you know where FSC Frequencies come from.

Thanks to the help of you guys here, I found the problem.

The file ADE_FTX_IRL_EIDW.BGL, belonging to the ORBX Ireland scenery has for both rwy 28 and 10 ILS freq as 108.90. The correct freq for rwy 28 should be 111.35

Nothing much I can do about that I guess....

You could open  ADE_FTX_IRL_EIDW.BGL with Airport Design Editor and edit the ILS.

You could use an airport design tool like ADE to edit the ILS frequency on 28. Or raise a support ticket with Orbx to ask them to correct their mistake.

Parts of FSC ( waypoints and airways) can be updated by Navigraph or Aerosoft AIRAC subscriptions, but the ILS frequencies in FSC come directly from the scenery. They are extracted when you run the FSC DB Manager program. You should always re-run the DB Manager anytime you install a new airport (either freeware or payware) to insure that all the airport runways, parking spots and ILSs are updated in FSC

Used ADE to change ILS freq to 111.35.  Rerun FSC database manager and all is ok now :)

Thanks for helping out

That's good to know it works but it is worth raising it with orbx so they can update it in their next patch.
