Well the folder is there, so it's certainly provocative.

Will it happen? Who the heck knows? I just immediately recognized the name from when I was asking around a few years about Laminar possibly using something like Sundog or TrueSky.

Thanks for the quick reply :) I don't have the game anymore in there so i coudn't check myself.
I also remember checking that same video time ago, so yeah, that's some good news and /might/ explain the absence of real weather download too maybe.

Can someone please tell me why this hasn't happened yet and I fly through billboards?

I think the OP's post pretty much covered some of the possibilities, including:

So... anyone tried it with a sub spec GPU - such as a 2Gb GTX960?

Yup, I've been running it on a 2Gb ATI Radeon HD 6900, which is comparable to the Nvidia GTX 570. That's well below spec and it gets about 30fps (see video in Avsim vid forum with Virtualcol Short 360 ported into FSW and frame counter on, drops to 15ish fps in the VC)

Running on an XFX  R9 380 4GB and with sceneries installed it feels as smooth as the same area in P3D. Frames around 20s-30s in more populated areas to high 50's in more sparse areas running at 1440p.

In my experience running @ 4k on a 1070 the FPS is lower than in FSX:SE, which leads me to believe the following:

1) FSW is less optimized than FSX:SE

2) the bottleneck truly has been shifted more towards the GPU and my 1070 isn't enough for 4k

The truth is probably a mixture of the two.
