should I buy

Recommended Posts

Hi

should I buy or stick with xplane? Are only a handful GA airplanes included? At least it covers the whole world with airports and scenery? Has the FSX flickering been removed?

At least it should run smoothly with my specs below?

Intel® Core™ i7-4770K CPU @ 3.50GHz × 8

GeForce GTX 1070/PCIe/SSE2

16GB ram

I was ready to buy this morning as it's cheap, but some comments made me ask back.

Thanks

From what I understand, you can get a refund from Steam if your not satisfied, so nothing to lose.

Personally, from what I've read and seen I'd wait, but that's just me. I'm not much for pre-release type software, with limited function and addons, when I already have a perfectly functioning, enjoyable sim.

Do you like testing out unfinished software?

Do bugs in Games make you mad?

If you had a bug in a game would you report it to the developer or ask for a refund?

Those are the kind of questions you should ask yourself and purchased based on that.

It's the cost of a low-end add-on for FSX or P3D, so if you want to try it out and offer feedback then I'd say it's a no-brainer and your feedback may help shape the simulator. If you are looking for a feature-complete sim out-of-the-box and aren't willing to offer feedback, then I'd say no.

I guess though that I'm used to constantly running in beta of some sort or another, because I use X-Plane

It is not less beta than X-Plane, by default offers - for my liking - better scenery and above all autogen, as well as weather effects and visuals, and even, more credible flight dynamics ( I emphasize --> for the default aircraft!!! because both platforms can shine with good aircraft add-ons, although I still prefer after all the feel of MSFS-derived flight dynamics inside of the normal flight envelope, and for outside of that I prefer to use IL.2 ... )

It has all good reasons to grow in offers, through Steam, very rapidly, and for sure much more easily supportable in terms of investment than the Prepared platform, which is out of question for me to support, starting with the base price I'd have to pay for beta testing it...

What can you lose paying for a sim, covering the Whole World, with 7 great GA aircraft, just €30, 00 ??? And yes, you can ask for a refund, provided you don't use it for more than I don't recall exactly how many days / hours... I, for sure, will not...

It covers the whole world, just like FSX did, ground textures by Orbx, NOT airports!! &  there are no highly detailed airports!

Remember that you'd be buying a game that's still in development. It's not all that great in its current state, but you might wanna buy it anyway.

That's true Wobbie, but there are many updated airports. Here in Portugal I found airfield I fly often to / from or across in my glider flights, like Ponte de Sôr ( LPSO ) and my operational glider base - Amendoeira LPMN - represented in FSW, and Lisbon Airport has been updated with new terminal buildings for Terminal 2, which aren't present if FSX:SE or P3D by default.

Didn't yet have to check the Navaids and Airspace for updates.

I tried my home airport and it's identical to what it is in P3D. The autogen around the airport was a bit too extreme for my liking. There were large apartment blocks for miles around the airport, where in real-life it is all mostly forests and lakes. Default X-Plane 11 gets this spot-on, but then the X-Plane scenery download is much bigger, so I'm not really expecting accurate world-wide scenery in a 15GB download. I'm sure we'll eventually see the ORBX landclass products or photoscenery addons appearing.

Bought but not impressed at all. Departing there are lakes missing, mountains look like fsx and I couldn't even figure my current location as the map is broken as well. cheap but not sure if i keep it. Back on Ubuntu now.205zdro.jpg28ap8o8.jpgBack on Ubuntu now.

You can always take the view you are buying a nice $25 plane that comes with a free simulator.
